2 new images of Alone In The Dark 5, with a beatifully rendered fire. We also learn that a fire extinguisher is not made to extinguish fires, but to crack doors open. Why not.

Yeah, Edward's design has changed. It edges more towards the New Nightmare look again, but without the coat. I think this game could turn out really special, and I really appreciate how little they expose it beforehand.

This may have been cancelled for PS3 BTW.

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=82...

Coming Soon - Financial year 2007/08
TBC - Alone in the Dark (360, PC)

Now that could mean until august or something in 2008 and the PS3 version is after or something. But it seems odd how only 360 and PC are chosen.

Wow the character, particularly in screen one, made me think of one word. Ass. I don't mean to whine but that just looks terrible. Maybe it's the camera angle or something. The environments look good though. Also a lot of jaggies.

Atari confirms Alone in the Dark delayed for PS3

Atari has reportedly confirmed that the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark is to be delayed. However, the Xbox 360 and PC versions are scheduled to be released before the end of their fiscal year in March 2008. No reason was given for the delay but Atari has reassured us all that the title is still in development for the PS3, it will just be a little late.

Cheers for the clarification. They really need to release better development kits for the ps3, the amount of delays due to cell is unbelievable. Im not sure what they where thinking including only 1 general purpose core in a gaming machine. The SPEs are bloody useless for most stuff apart from physics.

man you really need to STFU. Are you a programmer? don't talk like you know anything about developing on PS3. BTW warhawk uses spu's to render water, and volumetric clouds....

Man whats up your arse? And yes I am a programmer for your information. And water and clouds are both floating point calculations and are designed for such things. Water is a form of physics what do you think causes the waves?

The SPEs can be useful but only when the game is specifically designed to use them. They also can't do branching code so AI is out of the window on them as well as many other types of branching game code.

These games are getting delayed due to cells SPEs, it uses the same type of core as the 360. So there would be no problem in developing for the core. But the 360 has 3 of these, where instead of 2 extra cores CELL has 6 SPEs. Which while extremely fast for floating points are rubbish for anything else.

I'm not sure what I said to get a STFU reply but to me you seem like a run of the mill sony fanboy, snapping at anything and everything people say against the system. I think you need to grow up.

Sorry will keep on topic. Just annoyed me with his very blunt reply.

Just looking again at the fire, do you not think it looks a little bit too good for the rest of the scene. If you look in the first shot with the doorway, everything else looks sort of normal but the fire looks amazing. Sort of like its been painted on top?

no you are not

the water in warhawk is not interactive but I guess that counts for the volumetric clouds. But my point is there are tons of other games that use SPE's for different things like sound, post processing, ai. Go talk to the Heavenly Sword programmers on the beyond 3d forums.
The SPEs can be useful but only when the game is specifically designed to use them.
obviously
They also can't do branching code so AI is out of the window on them as well as many other types of branching game code.
Heavenly Sword uses SPE for AI. Out the window my ass

I think the games are being delayed due to 1) Microsoft money hats 2.) Bad decisions. Bad decisions because if you recall, John Carmack said that it would be wise for developers to write code on Cell and move it to 360 since it's easier however developers decided to ignore PS3 and develop for 360 first. This was the case for much of THIS year however things will change.
I'm not sure what I said to get a STFU reply but to me you seem like a run of the mill sony fanboy, snapping at anything and everything people say against the system. I think you need to grow up.
haha I am no fanboy but I do hate ballant xturds like you. "UH uncharted sucks, heavenly sword sucks, spe's suck, blaha blah blah" you have no intellect to be a programmer you douche bag

oh and your 14 year old fanboy allegiance are clearly more apparent than mine xbot
