Wii

Square-Enix just posted some new screenshots about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, an exclusivity for the Nintendo Wii. It will be launched with the WiiWare service for 1500 Wii Points (Japan). FFCC on the GameCube was cool, only if you had some friends to play with. I'm anticipating a mixed reception for this entry.

The latest footage of the game and screenshots seem like it's an entirely different type of game than before, and honestly does not look like much fun. Even the trailer shown last year looked like an entirely different, and better game.

I love co-op RPGs but I'm getting a little tired of seeing kiddy games on the Wii, though that isn't necessarily a bad thing for Nintendo I guess. Nor am I surprised about it. I've got a lot of friends with Wii's but they will only pick up party and sports games for it, nothing else. And definitely not something like this. Oh well.

The last Crystal Chronicles was ace if you and your mates had a GBA each. This allowed each player to view their own items, letters and you had to work together to cast spells and view the map. If i recall, one user would have a map, another with enemy locations etc.

If you didn't hook your GBA upto the Gamecube you missed out on a lot of neat features in the game.

One reason why i believe it didn't do too well is because the setup was costly. You had to have a GBA for each player and cable each to hook upto the system. The same can be said for Zelda four swords adventure. Great game, but how many people played in with 4 players?

Final Fantasy Cristal Chronicles: My Life as a King will be pretty decent if it works with the DS or even the DS Version of Crystal Chronicles out in Japan now.

I reckon this will be a decent game

Don't knock it, to you've played it.

This one will be more of a building game than an action rpg. I'm still intrigued though.

I just wanna point out that this is NOT the same game as the Wii Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.

This is a small game, equivalent of an XBLA title, which is much more based on the art style and overall direction of the original Gamecube title.

The Crystal Bearers has gone silent since we last saw the trailer, which either means it's cancelled (boo!) or in order to avoid the obvious confusion with this game.
