Dont know why they would release these screens, or any of that matter, they just look horrible, the videos on the otherhand are where the graphics really come through.
First pic looks great. I really don't know anything about this game so I ask if thats some kind of filter you can use while playing? Photo mode? Looks kinda weird :S
I'll do my best not to comment on the visuals that I see here. Instead I'll just say that I hope the game goes in a different direction than the past titles. The whole thing with the irrelevant missions have become tired. Give me a reason to want to finish this game from beginning to the end and kill the whole mauling pedestrians as the bread and butter of the game. It's become a little long in the toothe. I'd prefer a mix of rpg/action.
The visuals are far from terrible. Open world games have to make compromises and it really sounds like GTA4 more than makes up for them if you read the latest previews.

We all know GTA is about gameplay, and not once have they failed to the majority of people, which is proven as each sequel sells more then the previous

Amazing? The screens are average at best... and by how is saying how poor the game looks whining? If everyone kissed arse constantly nothing would get better.
i assume it's like halo 3 ---> still fine graphics but not mindblowing ... as for in the open world and extra options and customization it will stand out .
Read the previews... they say it looks stunning graphically. Stills cannot do a game justice. But I don't think you're gonna find uber high res textures in such a large world with this gen's 256mb texture budget.
doesnt look amazing, but it doesnt "terrible" or "horrible" like some people here have stated. but as long as it plays as good or even better then it did last gen and as long as it looks better then san andreas (which it does) then i'm happy.
Since I played Crackdown, when I see a game with a big city I just think: "Damn! Look at all that big buildings, and I won't be able to jump and climb them!" Then I get sad and I think: "I don't like this game :("

Haha me too, I think I'll stick to the likes of more interesting free-roaming open world titles like Crackdown, Just Cause 2, Mercenaries 2 and Prototype. I'm a little tired of the gansta/er scene with these games and want something a little more interesting. Even Mafia 2 looks better/more interesting.
I don't see any problem with the graphics, it looks fantastic, especially considering the size of the world, and the fact there are no load times.
What I find amusing though, is how many features it seems to be "borrowing" from Saints Row, after SR was heavily critisised as being nothing more than a GTA clone. ;) It's also getting suspicious that they still haven't shown anything from the PS3 version. I'm guessing there was some truth to the rumours of it being the cause of the huge delay?
What's wrong with you people saying it looks bad? In these shots you can see the stylization more than ever before. It doesn't look mindblowing in single shots, and even the full game in motion probably won't be mindblowing graphically, but it looks good, especially considering the scale.
[edit : just to be clear, the game is supposed to look like the box art of all the 3d GTA games (take a look at it and you'll see what I mean)]

only the ps3 has a 256 mb limit on textures, the 360's ram is unified so if they wanted to use 400mb on textures they could. I doubt they would but..they could.
