PS3

After going off the radar for more than a year, Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain comes back now with two brand new screenshots. If we're still left in the dark concerning what to expect from the game, these images confirm that it should at least be a very nice tech demo for the Playstation 3.

I'm going to assume that it'll be like Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy as far as gameplay goes, and believe me we need more games like that. Here's hoping, because it looks like they totally nailed the graphics end of it.

I liked the Heavy Rain tech demo. I hope they're already working with the game itself, it's been SOOOOO long!

I agree with munkieNS... there should be many more games like Indigo because it was basically a giant interactive movie... and we rarely get those. I love long and intriguing storylines, but I don't like it when it's cluttered with bad gameplay (a good example in my head would be Project Sylpheed or Kane & Lynch... gosh K&L had clumsy controls). If it's like Indigo, an instant buy for me. =)

Impressive and ugly at the same time. I think videogames should be a way to escape reality, not see more of it.

This game and Alan Wake are the only type of "psychological" type games I can't wait for.

Alan Wake being about a writer whos story becomes true (something like that).
Heavy Rain being about saving you loved ones, at what cost.

If the gameplay is like Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit, I have no problems with that, because the story was great.

I don't think realism means that you have to play through a more mundane verion of your own life. You can still practice "escapism" whist maintaining realsistic graphics. Film does it all the time...

Great looking face but unless they fix some of the stuff they did horribly bad in Fahrenheit this game won't be a priority for me. Like the hack story or the incredibly badly made qte-sequences the game forced upon you all the time. The dialog system was freaking brilliant though, so hope that returns.

POTENTIAL SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO DID NOT PLAY FAHRENHEIT AHEAD!!!

Any ways, it will probably look good and the story will hopefully be gripping enough (at least untill the cyber-monster maya-indian chiefs come flying in the window with zombies and whatnot). I lol'd.

Are you for real? You actually thought the story was good? I mean...okay, it was alright for like the first half of the game until the writer guy (can't remember his name, was it...David Cage?) went on a hallucinogenic mega-bender and just cocked up the story. The whole murder investigation part and mystery was nice, mystic and exiting but seriously...at the end? What did that guy smoke to come up with that lame crap?

Oh and please, don't take this as an insult, i'm actually curious as to why you thought the story was good.

That name reminds me of the movie they made in Bowfinger, which was called "Chubby Rain".

Because I just liked the story, if it wasent for the characters and all I would not play it, not only that but the music was good as well to even put me more into the game.

This is pretty amazing even if it's just a graphics demo at this point, I think this looks as amazing as Beowulf the movie if not better. Now picture a game looking as good as that movie did. Thats some serious Graphics... The eyes just have a really life like detail, I've never seen before in a game.

I think if they can pull that off this game is going to the set the bar pretty high up in the air.

And good or not good, Heavy Rain may go down as one of the most amazing looking games to date. That alone makes me interesting is seeing what this game is all about.

I agree. The closer you strive for realism, the more apparent the uncanny valley becomes. They need to follow Uncharted's example, stylize it a bit, make the character's look a little bit cartoony. It would look natural and avoid the uncanny valley altogether. But either way, I am still getting this game. Loved Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenhei (well not the Matrix twist in the end but everything before it), and would love to play another game like it.

according to a recent update (dont ask me to find the link) they have surpassed it...they admitted the tech demo from the ps3 anouncement was bang in between uncanny vally where it looked close, but there where wierd things that just broke that connection (womans mouth and her big ass teeth for me) but apparently they've just supassed it?? whether thats true or not remains to be seen. if they've created completely believable human characters then i'll be shocked. since there isnt a single movie which has yet.
