PS3

Sony America releases five so-called screenshots of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm. If what is shown in these images is running in real-time on anything else than photoshop, I'll be ready to eat a tree.

im going to say the 3rd shot is real-time, simply cos it has jaggies. very little of it looks photoshopped. the first image as well looks pretty legit minus the blurred foot which just looks like a quick photoshop job. the rest look too good to be true. if the third is to be believed it nails the anime art style WAY better then the 360 version did.

Naruto doesn't suffer from the same aliasing artifacts than the sets. And in the first shot, the aliased characters are more like what we've already seen in terms of cel-shaded characters, whereas Naruto looks like an HD art. I call target.

naruto DOES have that wierd blurry, fizzle that was present in the simpsons game tho, so i call genuine shot for the third image. it just doesnt look good enough on the whole to make me think any differently.

All of the up close characters are complete bullshot. The environments though, for the most part, look believable. You can see a overall color difference in 3 and 4 even though they are in the same general area. Also, there is something going on with those mountains in 3 and 4. Totally not photoshopped.

People interested in these games should feel offended by such nonsense.

also, it is technically Naruto: ULTIMATE Ninja Storm, but all bullshit neways ;3

At least it goes further along then the 360 Naruto.

It's more like 2D to me, background may be 3D, but the characters are too 2D animation-like.

you could always import it in the case that it doesn't, since it's region free.

Anyway, if the game builds off the Narutimate Accel series(not talking about the story arc), then I'm there.

I believe these are real time shots for the most part. They are incredibly plausible graphics, contrary to what people think, the PS3 CAN perform AA, especially in a cel-shaded game that doesn't have bump mapping/normal mapping/parallax mapping/self shadowing/etc. to tax the GPU. However, screen 4 is complete bullshot. Naruto is obviously 2-D artwork in the screen.

It looks much more authentic it turns of art style also, ubi did a good job, but the art style was a bit off IMO.

I think these are real time shots with lots of AA on characters, I don't see why the game can't look that good.

So is capture one. Just look at his foot. The "swoosh" isn't possible. If you look at the Naruto Project blahblah trailer of this game you see that they can do those swoosh things but not as seen here.

I do LOVE the crunchy look of the trees.

if this "cell shading" is for real, it's the best goddamn anime to 3d transition i've EVER seen. To me it looks like drawn characters on 3d backgrounds though :P

all of these are bull shots. Come on, people. No game can rival that linework. Not even Eternal Sonata which has the best toon shader I have seen yet.

Some of the backgrounds 'could' be genuine 3d assets, but the characters surely aren't.

I can beleive these to be real-time, they look non-perfect enough for me, besides, with what they managed on the 360, It's not surprising that it can look this good.

I really hope the end result will be close to this because it would mean that developer learn how to use cell shading in the right manner and get closer to the real thing.
Cell shading in games look anything but like an Anime, the closest thing I know of is “The Idolmaster” which sucks ass because of its genre and you still would recognize from like 10 miles away that it is a videogame...

Afaik it’s a fighting game so I’m not interested in the game itself. They should make some more complex games like RPGs or something.
Licenses like Naruto, Dragonball and Bleach are too much used for crappy fighting games.

I’ll wait for the HD 2D fighters to arrive.

Never a fan of the Narutimate Accel series.
Just looks to me like the Japanese were pretty pissed at being shown up by Ubisoft so are creating this game with the US audience in mind. After all, the Japanese aren't going to be interested in this game when they are over 50 eps into Shippuden...
Personally I'll be waiting for the sequel to Ubisoft's game rather than this average offerings from the Japanese developers...
