Wii

Two days ago, developer Vanillaware announced a new role playing game (RPG) for the Nintendo Wii - Oboro Muramasa Youtouden. It sports a somewhat retro style which will please sidescrolling fans, in levels with what I describe as glorious backgrounds. The images have been taken from Famitsu.

It looks like Odin Sphere from the screen shots. Maybe I just think that because I saw a review for Odin Sphere on G4 recently. I'll be interested to see if the wii-mote is used for anything besides just swinging the sword around. Maybe something like Okami except more complex drawings with penalities for drawing them wrong.

Well, this isn't Okami so I don't think we will see something like that

My copy of Odin Sphere just arrived in the mail today, and I'm loving the game. With titles like this and RE:UC, I can see myself buying the Wii in the near future.

Damn i thought Odin Sphere was frikkin awful, its slow and is severly repetitive.

Besides the main character looking completely out of place and not up to par with the rest of the game, I respect and look forward to side scrollers

Gameplay has always been secondary to me. It's all about art direction! The graphics in this game are amazing, and I say this having been playing almost nothing but HD games for the past 2 years.

Of course. I ended up buying the Gamecube just for RE4. Plus, it's been a while since I played a rail shooter.

I actually agree, I didn't think Odin Sphere was a particularly well executed game. Size of sprites and a more straightforward look has me hopeful for this though. Nobody can argue that they both look stunning however, and the themes here suit me perfectly I have to say.

It's a nice trend if games like these show up on the Wii I think. Cheaper development for smaller devs and a great unique control setup to boot.

On the top of my "Do want" list. Odin Sphere was an amazing game with awesome art and story telling. I can't wait for this!

PC as well lately, although I don't know if that's what they plan on doing all the time.

This game looks great BTW, absolutely incredible artwork here and the possibility of great gameplay.

Wasn't Vanillaware the same group who also did Princess Crown for the Saturn? Or am I mistaken?
