Xbox 360 PS3

Monolith and Warner Bros. released these images of the F.E.A.R. sequel, Project Origin. We forgot to publish the last images released a while ago, so some of these are old. The game will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, date is unknown.

Can't wait!

PC or bust, again.. I don't suspect this will be met with much fanfare on consoles.

Yes every sequel demands new technology and a spanking new engine :/

Imo, I think it's time to ditch this engine and move on. It doesn't look terrible, but it's just not cutting it anymore, graphicswise. FEAR was one of the most impressive looking games for it's time, but the engine doesn't seem to be evolving at all. The same goes for Condemned.

I'll be getting Condemned day one regardless as the gameplay is brilliant, but this game will be a rental at best if the 1st installment is anything to go by.

I'd say so, EA sports on the PC has been releasing pretty much the same game for the past 6 years.

Half life 2 would have been awful if it was released on the HL1 engine ;)

I never got fear, i thought it was dreadful, i never understood the big whoop about the AI either.

I totally agree, and I actually loved it on the 360 Grift. MP wise I was top 100 in the world for the longest time.

Yeah, I've seen the 17 min gameplay trailer and it looks much better in motion for sure. Just not anything worthy of notion compared to most of the other high profile games out there, imo.

One thing that I didn't like in that footage is that the game seems to take place in the same boring office building, or another that looks pretty much identical. I mean, come on...is it really that much too ask for a little variety and imagination in terms of level design/art?!

The game starts in a hospital (office buildings don't have operating tables), and those 17 minutes was all in said environment. These screenshots are not all in the hospital though, as we see multiple screenshots from some sort of outdoor environment and one that is quite obviously a NYC subway shot.

Sure, FEAR's locations were a bit repetitive, but on the other hand there are several other (successful) shooters that take place in one environment. At least FEAR had two (and a half).

FEAR's greatness stems from its gameplay/gunplay. It's a fantastic action game. It actually has a pretty awesome story too, unfortunately that tends to be overlooked since it completely lacks any kind of narrative. I'd like to see them really advance that portion of the game dramatically.

FEAR's story is actually quite a bit more interesting than Condemned's, but the lack of any attempt at telling that story to the player just doesn't sell it well.

Regardless of the visuals, if it can give that heart pumping adrenaline rush that F.E.A.R. gave me, then I'm sold. If it's atleast on par with F.E.A.R. thats good enough, I actually likes the way it looked, even if the engine isn't that great. ANd these are early images, so I expect it will recieve some polish later on...

And the best part is they aren't bullshots!! =D

Also, lets face it, F.E.A.R. was dated when it came out. Did you really expect anything special?

I'm sorta glad they're not pushing the envelope. I welcome the ability to play this game at 1920x1200 w/ AA/AF and without any issues on a modern gaming PC. Hopefully the fact that they're not messing with the technology means that somewhere hidden amongst their other teams the Monolith engine crew is slaving away at what will then become NOLF3.

I'm expecting a great game on this sequel....and I read that monolith is creating a great variety of environment this time, which is welcome of course!!! F.E.A.R. doesn't have the best graphics in the next generation consoles , but the game has a great gameplay and a involving story. So , I think it'll be easy for Monolith to create a better game using the good aspects of the first game adding a fantastic new-generation-graphics!!!

The 360 port of FEAR was very poor quality, especially considering what they could have down. Downgraded textures, didn't have all the PC features they said it would have. Sound bugs and lacked some important features like save anywhere.

I hope this one gets a good 360 version, because if not, I'll be passing for sure. No excuse to downgrade a game like FEAR on 360.

Well when it's been 3 years since its predecessor was released it only makes sense for the game to have a new engine. If it was something like madden or tony hawk where the company puts out a sequel every year, it's quite understandable for there not to be a leap in technology. But when it's been 3 years since the original FEAR game came out, it's practically unexcusable to not run on a new engine

True enough, but hospital or office...not that much of an exciting change of scenery really. And I know it's only 17 min, but it sets the tone for what we can expect of this game I'm sure. And It's a complaint I have about many games, some people don't mind this as I've noticed so that's fair enough, I just get bored very quickly if there isn't a change of scenery atleast every now and then.

The action is great sure, but for me it isn't enough to keep me interested long enough when taken place in pretty much the same environment throughout the whole campaign. Again, I suppose it comes down to personal preference/tolerance.

Don't worry, I believe I read that the 360 is the lead platform actually for this one.

It's not that it's bad like Silent Hill. But you guys look at what other companies push graphic-wise for 2008.Then look at Project Origin.Or worse,go back and check out this old game,Gears of War.It completely wipes PO off the map.
I loved FEAR,it was revolutionary at the time, still one of the best FPS' ever, but it's 2008 now...higher standards, devs should get up to those standards.

Killzone 2,R: FoM,RE 5,Gears 2 and possibly Alan Wake fight to be one of the greatest titles ever, while PO goes back in time.
