Xbox 360 PS3

Eidos and Crystal Dynamics release a few things concerning Tomb Raider: Underworld: a gallery of the new Lara 8.0 characted model as well as a comparison with the Legend version, two nice artworks to print and stick the english adventuress all over your walls, and nothing less than the new logo of the game, finally scrapping out the horrible visuals we had to bear since the first movie. What a fascinating news.

Nice improvements, yet I still don’t get why a chick would run around old ruins in a storm wearing hot pants and a belly shirt (or whatever it is called in English).
Not very convenient if you ask me… but I guess fan service is more important than logic.

Tomb Raider isn't about realism... It's about running around in ancient ruins. TR games are so good as levels they have IMO.

You'd think her nips could carve stone in that cold weather. Unless its warn jungle rain which explains the nipular lackingness. ;)

The new logotype looks oddly familiar, but I cant put a finger on it.

ACtually.. Wearing skimpy clothes in rain and running around ruins like that is great fun. The weather changed suddenly on me when I was visiting some ruins. Of course I love he rain lol...
But its easier to move and stuff. Thats why they wear stuff like that when its not stormy.
And I'm a dude, so no fantasizing. Unless your gay then go right ahead ~_^

The model's not quite there yet, but it's nothing some water effects won't fix. I do love me some wet Lara...

Fuck the begrudgers. I'm really looking forward to this, not because of a pathetic Lara Croft obsession but because the TR series consists of some really enjoyable titles.

Well, 1 was good. But its shit now. 2 was crap. 3 was enjoyable. 4 was slightly similar to 1 but the whole Egyptian theme was vastly overdone. Chronicles was wank, AOD I never played but Legend was a fine game whilst TR Anniversary was absolutely fantastic.

Her new outfit is really nice, I love the shirt.

And as a graphic designer, I have to compliment the new logo, it looks fantastic, far better than the old "movie" logo they've been using for the past few games, and it seems they've dropped all those annoying "starring Lara Croft" tag lines.

The only classic Tomb Raider game that was worth playing was the original. All the ones after that (especially 2 damnit!) were garbage. But Legend and Anniversary have completely redeemed the series. This is one of my most anticpiated games this year :)

I love 1/2/4 and Anniversary. 3 was just good, 5 and 6 was crap. Legend - shooter

They are catering to guys who objectify women and stare at them in magazines, often giving them demeaning titles such as bird, broad and chick... oh, but... wait... did you just say... chick?

I don't like how her face hasn't changed in design. It's just still proportioned weird, and I would appreciate a more 'human' looking head seeing as the texture / shader artwork is going for realism and not a 'cartoony' look.

U want her to wear a raincoat while climbing a mountain? I'd be more realistic if she wore a full on leather catsuit, but that would be even more of a horny fan service. :P

Seconded. She looks like she's went through a harsh steroids program, with narrower hips, a more ripped appearance and much sharper facial features, like the massively bulging jaw. I don't understand at all what the modeler was trying to accomplish here.

I believe the artist was trying to define the details of her musculature to make it more believable that she would gain muscles by climbing cliffs and raiding tombs, instead of having a supermodel body while achieving amazing feats like in Anniversary, but he should let the lighting show the muscles(like in the second artwork, for example, it makes them more subtle) and not actually make them poke out manually. Also, the sharper facial features are supposed to be hinting at Lara aging even more. If you notice on each cover of each game, it features Lara's face. Notice how you can slowly see her face age after each game(except for chronicles and anniversary, because of obvious non ordered reasons). This game will probably also show her face on the box cover. She looked like she was in her early 30s Legend. In this one she looks nearly 40, or maybe in her early 40s.

I think they abandoned her age, after Legend retconned every game past the first one. It was unnecessary for a character like this to be aging so dramatically with each game, I don't think anyone want to see her as a 50-60 year old woman in the next game.

In Legend, we only know that she's in her late 20's, and Underworld is a direct sequel, it takes place immediately after the events of Legend, so it certainly wouldn't make sense for her to be that much older. But either way, like I said, I think they're trying to avoid aging her that much. Except of course in Anniversary and certain sections in Legend, where she did appear noticeably younger.

I don't like how they seem to have made her breasts bigger again. They made them far more realistic for Legend, but she seems to have gone back to the silicones here.

Her bellybutton is odly un-sexy and her armpits are raised too high. Other than that I think it is a nice progression on Lara from the last game.

/nitpicking off

Looking forward to her next adventure.

I could agree about boobs, but too muscular? Come on, she's supposed to perform some incredible acrobatics, she has to be athletic.
