Hmm, I thought that first game was not a commercial success... Nice to see the sequel though... might pick it up.

It sold pretty well, just not as well as it should have. Hopefully the release of the DS version will push the sales of this one more.

it wasn't a commercial success, but far from a sales flop... too complex for kids to play by themselves, maybe too kiddie looking ( 4Kids TV Show & all that jazz ) for some grown-ups, i guess.
But it's easy to see why this is a cheap sequel in the production aspect.
The bases are all built, just add extra depth, content, modes & fix the rough edges and there you go. New viva piñata ... why not? It's FABOLOUS!

i tried to get into the original, but i just couldnt due to the lack of missions/goals etc, i hate that, but this adds co-op, which should make it more fun even without objectives

Looks just like the first one. I hope it's more than just an addon with more pinatas and new gardens.

People who complain about games that are "just for kids" are usually the immature ones. People who ARE mature tend to not care if a game has a childish tone. But considering the first one had a lot of ineuendo and adult humour, claiming it's a game merely meant for kids is a little ridiculous.

If you're a twelve year old Sony fanboy, may I suggest you try the Gametrailers forums? You'll feel right at home there.

It's a lot more than just an add-on, the Pinata's are a lot more interactive now, they can apparantly all interact with each other in new ways, and are a lot more interactive with the player, each one being able to learn tricks. The gardens are a lot bigger and can have themes applied now, like the pirate or grave yard ones we saw in some of the shots, and as well as the day-night cycle, there's a seasonal cycle, which includes weather effects. Oh, and of course there's drop in/drop out co-op, a free play mode, challenege mode were you have to solve a series of goals, and a camera tool for taking pictures of the pinata's and uploading them (and then hopefully exporting them onto your PC..)

A lot of the new species of Pinata's were obviously just meant to be downloadable for the first game, but there's certainly a lot more here than just an add on :)
