Anti-gravity racing in high definition (1080p) with 60-frames-per-second, interested? That is the premise of Wipeout HD, which will be a downloadable title from the Playstation Store directly to your Playstation 3 hard drive disc come the end of 2007. Seven racing modes, a photo mode, up to eight players at the same time, keep an eye for this game!

I hope Cold Storage is doing some music for this or their music is being reused. Wipeout without top-notch trance tunes is not wipeout at all. I'm sure the marketing department is just itching to use some ass-rock and worthless bands in this one, the kinds they have every night on Conan O'Brien for the past 15 years (count the bands.. thats UMPTEENTHOUSAND useless ass-rock bands).

The only F-zero to precede Wipeout was on the SNES, and that was nothing like it. You could easily argue that subsequent releases of F-zero ripped off Wipeout.

speaking of, f-zero gx (graphically) still looks better than this, and its 4 years old.

It IS just a downloadable title, after all.
Commented on 2007-09-19 09:02:29Also Geometry on it looks low but it's pre-production. Will never beat the SNES f-zero though , that was pure class.
Lastly am i missing something? They look 16:9 ratio to me?

As for the visuals, I'd agree the screen shots above look crap. But if you've got a PS3 then you can download the ingame trailer thats been on the PSN for ages, which looks jawdroppingly pretty.
