Images PC Xbox 360 PS3

id Software has released these new images of Rage, their next FPS. They may look surprisingly small but I guess it's better than nothing.

It really is a shame that developers don't really bother with PC games these days when you see what the current hardware can achieve.

their are pc games, lots of them, but the consoles get the attention, hell almost 99% of 360 games are also pc games or eventually become it...

hell i just ordered my new pc so i can get back into pc gaming, i felt like i was missing out, arma2, crysis and probably a dozen mmo's all will be mine soon, (core i7 920 + gtx275+6gb ram = funmachine, not a bad 700$ considering its been 6 years since i bought a pc)

Easily the most detailed game ever created as far as graphics are concerned. I wouldn't be at all surprized if these shots are from the console version either.

Yea right… or not because QW:ET is using the id Tech 4 Engine, was developed by Splash Damage and last but not least was a decent game and well received.

Awesome screens and I like how it reminds me of Mad Max.

i'm fully aware that it was idtech4(i.e. doom3 engine) used, however it was also the first use of the megatexture tech, which underwhelmed. the pc version was somewhat well received, but the console versions sucked and flopped.

and i mentioned carmack for the obvious reason of him implementing the megatexture tech into the idtech4 engine used by QW:ET.

and let me clarify what i meant by my previous statement. rage is the game to showcase idtech 5 and make devs aware that idtech 5 is a viable and significantly enough better looking middleware engine graphically than UE3. it's a battle between 2 of the greatest programmers alive today, tim sweaney(epic games) and john carmack(id games). i hope at least bethesda uses the idtech5 for their future titles. it's only a matter now of optimising the code to take full advantage of the ps3's cell processor SPUs.

Very pretty and it's worth remembering Carmack has promised this game will run at 60 frames per second, even on consoles.

Carmack = best game coder in the world.

Those are pretty low res shots, I'd assume the console version looks at least that good.

A tech5 Elder Scrolls would be awesome, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Chances are ES5 has already been under development for at least a year now, and after getting so familiar with their current engine (that they've been using since Morrowind), I just have a hard time imaging Beth doing anything genuinely risky.

It’s not a battle.
First of all Sweeney mostly filled the role of the producer on the UE3 and did not much coding on it and secondly the UE3 will almost be 4 years old when Rage will be ready that is hardly a fair comparison.

It’s only matter of how good your PC is/will be at the time. Playing id games on consoles is blasphemy and should be dealt with by capital punishment.

these screens seem to be lacking any sort of post processing seen in the trailer...I think some dude on neogaf said these were taken by an artist to show textures or something....
