Volition and THQ bring us two new screenshots of Saints Row 2, which dares to recall us its existence in the frenzy of the Grand Theft Auto IV pre-launch. There was also a teaser packed with the screens, but it's basically a one minute long logo with some dialogues edited over - we passed.

The fact that they continue the story with the same characters is interesting too I reckon.
Also, in response to this actual news report, I have to defend the latest teaser video. It was only supposed to be a TEASER, not a trailer and if you've played through the first game, a lot of it was actually quite interesting.
And considering this is so often labeled a "GTA clone" it's amusing to look at the amount of features GTA IV has taken from Saints Row. :)
These guys need to exploit the things GTAIV won't be doing (like airplanes) and probably should take a really silly angle as opposed to GTA getting more serious. Saint's Row 1 did take itself a little too serious, and the jokes were overcooked.

as for the exploiting planes....how? what can you do to exploit the inclusion of planes that a heli (which GTA doe have) doesnt. i mean, its an airborne vehicle. a plane is less usefull then heli really.
You'll have to buy Saints Row if you want planes. They're customisable along with the cars, main character and gang members too. However, I disagree with the first game taking itself too seriously. Contrary to popular belief it did actually have a really good story, and it was really quite funny at times, it knew when to poke fun at itself, and the gang culture, and when it should be being serious.
Anything with Dex was gold. "It's not THE Los Carnales, it's just.. forget it!"

I'm a big GTA fan and consider Saints Row a poor attempt at even coming close to GTA,since GTA is more than just graphics,it has a soul. But graphics on Saints Row 2 are good, they were good on the first one too,but framerate was a mess so laughing at its graphics is pretty much...wrong.
I thought it was surprisingly engaging actually, and I thought Johnny Gat was genuinely cool. The way it didn't set out to make parody out of all its characters really worked for it and gave it a different tone than GTA I reckon.
I'd really like it if they toned down the forced gangstah feel though.. "Stealing hookers"?.. I mean come on, that's just embarassing. I don't think even hookers playing the game found that edgy and cool.
Saints Row = bad, because it doesn't focus on an epic story like GTA does.
360 exclusive DLC = bad, because nobody cares about more story.
Not picking on anyone here inparticular, just a general observation from comments I've been reading about these two games in general..
