Konami and The Collective release two galeries of Silent Hill 5 screenshots, one from the PS3 build and the other from the 360 build. Nevertheless, some images showing absolutely no differences at all from one version to the other, we kinda doubt they're really X360/PS3...
Update: We cleaned the old screens and the doubles. Obviously the multiplateform tag was a mistake from Gamespress.

Well, as old SH fan I must say: THIS LOOKS UGLY. really a bit dissapointed about the grafx. Now it's all about gameplay and story and athmosphere, but my optimism has gone... =(
Someone didn't make it to the bathrooom in time. Next time, don't hold it :P
The have the empty feel nailed, though. Remember Silent Hill isn't about big shocks and scares, but surreal emptiness.
Second of all its been made by a diffrent team
Third of all the "noise" effect has not been placed on yet (going by all previous games thaty all looked drab, but the noise effect made them a lot more appealing)
Fourth its not in motion, and the video i have see in motion look splendour :D
Please the whole " this looks shit the textures are lame blah blah blah" do you not see that this is the whole reason the industry is going like it is, when people dont really care for how it plays and if its you know "fun", the industry is that scared trying to impress you with its visuals they dont have time/money left for the important things like "fun" and "intresting"
True we could look in the Wii corner and see the complete opposite, where what we...well me at least want to see is something in the middle yes i want immersive graphics, but that does not mean i want realistic graphics, if i want realistic i will look around at the trees in my local forest while jogging and pretend i am running from hordes of alien/monsters/nazis, not that i will though due to i dont want to be placed in a mental home ...not just yet anyway.
As for the scare factor, *sigh* has no one learned from the movies or games of past ? the visuals dont scare, its the execution of the scare that scares, the only time i was not scared in DOOM 3 was when i was shooting .. but the silent parts ...
At the moment, this is looking distinctly PS2/Xbox, I really hope they give it some polish, hell, Alone in the Dark stomps this!
The udders on the Silent Hill cow must be running empty by now...
Damnit konami i want a awesome looking next gen silent hill, not this drab looking turd.
Over all the graphics look like shit considering that it's based on either 360 or PS3 hardware. To me it looks like it would be feasible gfx for the ps2? Really, it's not all that far from SH3 or the room, is it?
I do think there's merit to worries that this will be samey though. Not necessarily because The Collective isn't capable, but rather because they're so busy nailing the style and feel of an existing game (SH2 super obviously) that they forget to explore new stories and ways to tell those stories.
I still think these screenshots lend more confidence in that it's turning out great though. Keep in mind that there are plenty of visual tricks going on that aren't evident in screenshots, like the realtime descent into "hell" as depicted in the movie.
They're not developing this game. It's made by Foundation 9,one of their companies actually.

I'm dissapointed in the looks of this game, but SH still is the scariest game ever made, for me.Up until now anyway.
The main reason I highlighted AITD was the fact that although the multi-platform aspect covers two generations of hardware, a lot more effort seems to have gone into the 360 and PS3 versions than these guys have.
Indeed, previous incarnations of Silent Hill have been downright disturbing, and I would say is unique to the series. But, with new hardware to play with, I would have hoped they would have furthered their ambitions a little more.
Sorry for having my own opinion, yours is obviously superior to mine</sarcasm>

I mean SH3 on PS2 looks better
Did you see halo, 4 months before launch ? it was utter shit, and that goes for a majority of games, mind you the fact you said if this was a Wii game you would still be let down just points out the kind of person i am arguing with here.
Sometimes i wish our pastime never went main stream...
Anyways, the graphics aren't super yet and maybe they won't be when it releases either, but what's really bugging me is still stuff like a HUD and the fact that there seems to be little need for the flashlight. I guess it could still be good but i'm taking a cautious stance to it.
