Wii

Namco Bandai frees a bunch of new images for Soul Calibur Legends destined on the Nintendo Wii. This spin-off to the popular combat videogame places fighters like Lloyd Irving in their youth (read : laughable) in an adventure setting. I had the impression of viewing screens from a port of Onimusha, minus Jean Reno. Looks pretty badass though.

Lloyd? Wtf!?

I never was much of a Soul Calibur kind of guy, i always preferred Tekken and Virtua Fighter. The thing that made soul calibur stand out was the quest mode, with it's weird little challenges and so forth. For me this game feels like the obvious way to go with the franchise, picking the best elements out of the previous games and thus turning it into an action/adventure game instead of a fighter. Since it's coming to the Wii i probably won't be playing it but my hype for this is substantially larger than for SC4.

Woah :s I've seen better on the Wii. They should be capapble of pumping out that little bit more. (Thinks about Monster Hunter 3-tri)

Unfortunately this goes without saying for most Wii games. There just aren't enough developers that care about their games like Nintendo or Capcom. I haven't seen any game play movies of this game other than the original trailer that looked decent, but I'm wondering how it controls. It does look like Onimusha, BTW, good job picking that out.

Wow. That's pretty bad. Now I know why the majority of Wii games have tiny screenshots... :/

Not that bad really. I had to resize them too, I think it's a first for Wii screenshots. *shrug*

I think I'm getting rid of my Wii. If they can't even get their games looking as good as PS2 games from over two years ago, then Wii developers are either lazy or they've been lying about the Wii's power. I'd really like to know the average development time going into Wii titles, because it can't be more than 12 months tops.
