Xbox 360

Capcom releases three new images of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (phew, what a name !), to be out soon on XBLA. The high definition translation seems quite respectful of the original game.

Wasn't this also coming to PSN? I don't want to play with the 360's shitty d-pad or spend money on a joystick. Looks awesome either way.

It's cool that it's high res but i most certainly won't be paying for it unless they have updated the game play. I mean...SF2 was incredibly good when it was new, but not so much any more. There are far better iterations in the same series, not to mention Guilty Gear, which imo kicks street fighters butt.

I never thought animation could look great in high def, like a drastic improvement wouldn't be seen between actual image and high def.

But it does look very clear and crisp. I guess it is worth thinking about animation in high def as well.

They have toenails.. creepy. I thought this was getting the same treatment as Puzzle Fighter and would be released at relatively the same time on PSN... am I wrong?

When it comes to street fighters look, I only like those cool looking anime style to them.
And the only games I might play is the ones were you do so crazy combos and then you do these type of monster power ups and then screen goes all flashy and shows off some cool moves and such.

This isnt it right?

By the looks of it, it seems so.
Then I might get this one.

However, when I mean bad ass flashy power ups, I mean this one.

This is basically the same game that released in the early nineties, but with updated sprites and online. Same frames of animation, same moves, same everything. If you didn't grow up with it, you probably won't care for it, and you almost definitely won't like it.

Actually there is rebalanced mode, which is more or less a new game entirely. They added extra moves, altered the characters play style, enhanced all the cast to create a more leveled playing field. This is all be created by Sirlin and 10 of the top EVO players. So this is more than just a new lick of paint on a 10year game.

Wrong. There's going to be a classic mode and a remade mode, with new moves, rebalancing and such.

Anyways, I think it looks great, but it's not coming 'soon' from what I hear, unless you also consider GTA4 to be coming 'soon'.

They really hired some talented people to redo the sprites with respect.

as for the crappy d-pad, I think every 360 pad I've tried when-new ignore directional presses on the pad which makes them useless, but after a few hundred presses and abuse they finally yield and become precise and functional.

The best d-pad ever was the sega saturn slim controller but I suppose most of you have never seen the saturn nor know a d-pad other than the four squares sticking out of an even older superbly unergonomic PSX pad, the dual.. single.. original PS pad whose d-pad hasnt seen an upgrade for 15 years.

Microsoft tried to copy the saturn dpad.. they failed because they needed to save 15 cents on each.

This guy knows what's up.

Also Joergen is right! The best dpad ever is on the Saturn controller. PS dpad is horrible in comparison. The dpads on the xbox controllers aren't so bad, although the new 360 dpad has issues with making diagonals like Joergen pointed out.

Also, the Saturn days weren't THAT long ago. I think everyone here played it.

Hmm, I didn't know about the new mode. Sounds interesting. And I'm not saying the PS3 has the best d-pad ever, I'm saying the 360 has the worst one. It marked the first time I've ever been FORCED to use a thumbstick in a fighter (DOA4).

Also, I found out that it is indeed coming to PSN. Your 360-only icon is incorrect, GS, as is the target release (it's actually Q1 2008 now).

I still think that those of us who bought the awful last version of SF2 on XBLA should get this one for free, or at least a discount. I wish there was a way to refund some money or sell the games on XBLA...

I agree, the Saturn D-Pad (second edition small one) was one of the best sticks to play SF games with... but I am still the best with the Dreamcast D-Pad. Probably thanks to Marvel vs Capcom 2.. hehe..
