Xbox 360

Genki released a bunch of new images from Tokyo Extreme Racer, which really fail to impress. It's really sad to see, but it's just better to ignore the fact (and the game) than be all aggressive about it, even though I guess we should wait for a gameplay video. The series seems to have a quite big fanbase after the Dreamcast versions, but the newest one, Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT (just released on PS2), didn't get that good reviews.

Looks just OK to me. They best release this before TDU.

the only thing you can say from watching these images is that the cars will be very shiny.. i'm not impressed by the graphics on surrounding houses, i'm not impressed by the graphics at all but i hope they will work on that and i also hope this will play 150% better than NFS:MW.

this game was never a game to be impress by it's graphics... I still remember the Dreamcast version... which is no where near as good as MSR on the dreamcast...

Japanese developers go for the 60fps, as they understand how the 'feel' of games are much more important than the stupid details that really do nothing but slow the game down..

I know for sure this will play tons smoother than the likes of PGR3 and the soon coming (jerk-o-vision) Test drive..

Way to go Genki!!!

Ummmmmm, you can still use shaders and achieve 60fps you know.

Gameplay people.. gameplay...

TXR or shutokou battle was never about graphics.. i think they dont aim for that, or simply dont have the funds or talents to do so..

however, this does NOT look like the DC version.. that's not right..

I cant wait for this one.. all those bosses, car tuning and altering, and all those roads with such great atmosphere!

It may not have been about graphics, but when it came out on the DC it was one of the best looking racers around.
I really just loved the way it played out though.

That looks damn awful, they seem to still be using some PS1 assets. Some things are just horrible. And those car models can barely compete with PGR2 models. You know what, this piece of shit doesn't even look as good as PGR2/Forza Motorsport, and no, i'm not going to ignore shit like this, I'm going to hate it.

Manager..

I think, and i really hope that's a old screenshot, or those might be replaced with better textures once it's out...

That is the worst looking picture of all though.. i agree.. :(
But really, the other ones look good to me.. not like PGR3, but more like ridge racer 6.. solid, but nothing breathtaking..

and lebato.. what's with the foul language now? dont like it? cool.. but at least wait with your hate campaign till the game is actually done and playing on your 360... there is still time..

Remember GRAW? that looked bad as well just a couple of months before release.. but that ended up pretty well..

Ok, I think you guys shoulnd bitch and moan until theres a release date. If this game is due at the end of the year, theres a lot of time for tweaks. TDU didnt look too good at first.

As much as I'd like to give this a big hand (cause they did a good thing for the DC back in the day) this is unacceptable.

I dont know if the Japanese devs have some sort of ridge racer syndrome where lightmaps, shadows and proper texturing is forbidden, but oh my gosh please warp out of 1995, 10 years have passed.

That shot highlighted above, the xbox1 could run that 60fps QUARANTEED. If thats how its going to look its a crime against anybody who first paid 400 bucks for the beastly hardware and then 60 for track artwork that took 3 days instead of 3 months.

Seriously, as people have said in other gamethreads, this is a next-gen console. We want the games to play good, that's for sure but we also want NEXT-GEN graphics, and this is certainly not it yet.. hope it will improve though.

I know it doesn't look great but I will buy it before TDU simply because I hate the need for speed nitro boost effect that seems to be in all the TDU race pics.

Either Japanese artists are not talented enough, or they are trying to sabotage the 360's success...

Yeah.. that's it..

They need to sabotage the 360 with their games who they worked on day and night for a year and a half and cost a lot of money to develop... they want it to bomb.. bomb badly so the 360 looks stupid...

;)

i don't know wha it is with you lot! RR6 has solid graphics. really shines in HD, and runs very smooth. doesn't have the latest trendy effects, but that doesn't make it THAT much worse.
also, yeah they really have to use better textures compared to what we're seeing in that pic manager showed. they're obviously not going to use those textures, though, and those models and low res textures are probably just place holders or WIP for now.
it won't be released looking THAT bad ;)
