Xbox 360

Square-Enix released what should be the very last Japanese trailer of Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and I'm actually impressed by how good the game looks (besides some almost creepy 3d character models).
Update: Added the new images and videos from today's update of the game's official Japanese site.

Visually this game is a monster and the action/battle mechanics look very well done.

This game looks sharp, both technically and gameplay considering SO's 3 gameplay. I hope in the same deep weapon upgrade system and a decent story.

I hope not to be disappointed again from a jrpg this gen.

Great trailer with top notchcharacter modelling, but I'm hesitating on this because Infinite Undiscovery (also by Tri-Ace) wasn't very good, and the western versions of this will have forced US dubbing. (which was beyond abysmal in Infinite Undiscovery)

Looks like great fun but I have to agree, Tri-Ace's character designs always make them look like porcelain dolls!

I'd say its a mixed-bag visually. Some of the character models look amazing, but the environmental textures are pretty weak. And what's with the texture on that tree in picture #3?

Oh, and the lighting in those snow pictures doesn't change, even though the whole area gets lit up in the second pic...

Graphics are totally a mixed bag, it can look horrendous, almost last gen at times (look at the pic with that pink.......thing).

And on the other hand, it can look amazing, almost cg-like during cutscenes when the focus is on the characters which for the most part look pretty damn good (although creepy).

I know what you mean, when you watch the videos and see it in motion it does really come to life.

The cutscenes feel improved over past videos in this one. Doesn't seem bothersome at ALL. Which is a relief, even though there is still some issues there obv

If god existed though, he'd put Japanese voices with English subs on this game. I want that so bad.

I've actually figured it out. It's not the animations that are so incredibly bad, they are passabel, it's the camera work that totally wrecks it. The camera movement is just incredibbly stiff and unnatural making it feel like one of those really early 3d games. All static angles and abrupt halts.

If I got that trailer correct, it will be 3 DVD's, also seems that there isn't much real time rendered scenes and most seems to be with the in game engine.

I really find this game to look really darn impressive, and it also seems to keep SO3's combat system :) I'l be sold and have a fun few sleepless weeks ahead.

Yeah they are a bit awkward. Maybe that is why these videos seem improved, because they have better camera work in them
I like the Japanese voices so much in these videos :(
