Video PS3

2010 will be gone soon and Sucker Punch would not want you to start the new year without a new gameplay video of InFamous 2. Well, sort of new I should say, since it is more or less the same gameplay sequence that was shown a few months ago. I'll leave the comparison game to you guys.

Combat looks interesting... Enemy design is ridiculously lame and derivative- Someone was watching Blade 2 a lot when coming up with enemies...

I wish they kept the new design for Cole and not go back to generic bald character, damn the dumb fans who nagged for bald Cole.

That said, this one looks much better than the first one, both visually and gameplay and even animations, definitely buying it.

Because making the character look younger and 'fresh' and looking like Nathan Drake was a good move, right? Because it was nessecary, right? Come on now. He was bald and cool in the first one, no reason to go changing that.

he does. eveyone's whining about the old-new look (with hair) has created a horrible mix of justin beiber voice with bad ass looks. doesnt fit. at least with the old-new appearence (with hair) he sounded like he looked. now it's a bit of a jarring mess. not a big enough problem for me not to buy it, but it's probably going to be enough for me to care less about what he has to say story wise.

otherwise looks amazing. digging the new enemies, digging the new moves and melee system, LOVING the visuals....very impressive for an open world game. can't wait for it.

So any guy being young with short black hair is now Nathan Drake? LOL
Whatever you say.

Let's just put it like this, he looked like Nathan Drake, alot. And that's probably due to the fact that ND had something to do with this game, i remember something about that they ND helped them out a bit.

he looked nothing like nathan drake. he looked a lot younger for one. dress sense was completely different (looked like a poser), he had tattoos... sure, he had hair, but that's about as far as the similarities go. now, if you said the GAMES share similarities. sure, i'd agree. infamous 2 has certainly taken some pages from uncharted's book as far as set peices and telling a cinematic story, with cinematic, scripted gameplay. but the characters? i dont see it.

really didnt like the original, to be fair i never played it all the way through...but it looked so unpolished, and badly paced.

This one looks leaps better visually. I really hope it plays well

You are right, my bad. I guess i meant to say he looked alot like a younger Nathan Drake. It certainly didn't look right when you compare it to his looks in the first game. There was no logical reason that he'd look like this now.

You say InFamous 2 looks alot like the Uncharted games? Hmmm...you could be right. But i never noticed it really...what aspects exactly? I mean there are many more games who tell a cinematic story and are scripted :)

I agree with you, I traded it in against Dragon Age...very satistfied :)
Infamous 2 does look leaps better than the first one for sure.

About the hair, they could easily kept the hair and just make his face look older and remove the stupid tattoos, easy fix.
But whatever, as long as the game delivers I am fine with it.

just in terms of pacing and how cinematic and "edge of your seat" the gameplay situations are. uncharted 2 in particular feels very unique in it's relentless pacing. it thrives on putting you in situations where you're under stress and survive where the odds are against you in an OTT fashin. often only JUST makiing it. dead space is taking that route too, and infamous 2 looks to be doing the same. take the footage here, it's not just a car chase scenario like most games. it's been taken up that extra level that you see in summer blockbusters. cole getting hit in the face with a heli, blown up in slo-mo, only to survive. it's fast paced, frantic, exciting, and OTT. it's just paced a lot better combared to infamous 1, where there is a lot of downtime even mid-mission, and much closer to what you'd find in uncharted 2. if nathan drake was a super hero, i'd expect him to be doing stuff you see cole do in infamous 2, while making some witty remarks in the process obviously.

as characters they couldnt be more different, both personality and looks. but in terms of how infamous 2 is shaping up, it's clear they've been influenced by naughty dogs masterpeice. hell, a lot of developers seem to have been (dead space 2, enslaved, killzone 3 to name a few). and rightly so imo. i want all action games to have the level of polish, excitement and frenetic pacing of uncharted becasue as far as i'm concerned, it's perfection and by far the closest thing to a movie we've seen, and yet unlike say, MGS, it's almost all playable.

Ah yes, i see what you mean now, that's definitely true. I absolutely can't wait for InFamous 2, it's a no brainer for me. I see some criticism about the first one here and it seems some people haven't finished it, but i can highly recommend to continue the game, it's awesome. I had a blast playing it. And the few choices in the game were great, i really hope they'll put them back in 2 as well.

I'm not expecting any world wonders from the combat anyway, i'm expecting a game that is similar to the first one, and that's good. As long as they still have the ability to let you use lighning on enemies, i loved that in the first one.

I really like the looks of this, as I enjoyed the first game quite abit. However, I don't have much to base it on since I only played the demo and I never got hold of the full game.

If what they show is the real deal, and not some scripted gameplay - then I think we could be in for a nice ride. I'll be looking forward to more info and reviews.

Never really got into the first game. Played the demo and really didn't like it (not sure why). This one looks to be a pretty huge improvement, but I'm still not sold. Are there any other weapons other than shockifying everything? I mean the powers look pretty cool, but don't you get bored of electro staff and electro-nades after a while? I know guns are overdone and all, but electricity conductivity ranks in the bottom third of my favorite super powers. I just don't know if I will still be interested after I beat down my 10,000th alien with my shocker staff and wreaked havok with my 500th electronado...

Damn, that was some crazy sh!t! The acid spewing, burrowing, alien mole-horse was one of the oddest enemies I have ever seen in a game. That did look pretty decent, but they need to get rid of the crappy death animations when you hit the enemies with lightning bolts or grenades. They fly into the air, turn sideways, and rotate exactly 14 times EVERY time. Looks really weird (watch at 30 seconds into the video). This a game that calls for something like euphoria, or at the very least some decent ragdoll physics for the enemies to be blown around with. I am hoping these are just place holder animations until they get the physics sorted out...
