Xbox 360

The Infinite Undiscovery trailer released yesterday by Microsoft was a few weeks old, but here it is again this time with Japanese voices and thus actual lip syncing.

I hope the Japanese voices are available for the North American version. Those English V.O. are absolutely horrid compared to the well suited awesome sounding Japanese ones.

i dont get why star ocean 4 looks so many times better than this game when its the same devs, and same platform..maybe even same engine.

@Xion4360: All I have seen from Star Ocean 4 yet, seem pretty much pre-rendered. So I can not say, which games looks better.
I just know, for a Japanese game, Infinite Undiscovery has pretty poor animations and the wrong platform. I'm a bit sad abaout this, because it firstly looked pretty good.

@Nexus6: A++ *approved* But that's always like this.

those 4 images are in-game engine, the last ofcourse is CG..as you can see, much better than IU. The whole "wrong platform" thing is not a good thing to say, its a game and it belongs on a "gaming platform".

and last poster, this is not Unreal Engine 3.

well pretty much every 360 jrpg released in the west has had optional JP voiceovers, so theres nothing to worry about :)

Supposedly we're in a new generation but every JRPG so far has been same old, same old. FF13 will probably release around 2010, and it's beginning to look like we won't be seeing the next step up for JRPG's until then.

Because we saw so much of FFXIII that is so brand new, innovative, amazing and such things, right? – Err…

Ok back to game that will be release before I die in car accident or an alien invasion. I still like what I see. The Japanese voice of Aya is a bit ordinary. If you watch a lot of Animes then you might know what I mean.
Graphics look okay to beautiful and gameplay might offer some real cool action. I hope they get it done right.

I'm curious, what is this "next step up" people keep talking about in terms of Jrpgs? Is the next step up making them non turn based or stat based/non jrpgs? Or do you mean graphical power, which is pretty much meaningless.

Because... you say so? We've seen nothing from this gam that'd suggest so. In fact we haven't seen much at all.

OT: I'm actually more excited about SO4 that this game. The presentation of SO is just much better and the story may be more interesting.

everyone just assumes FF13 will be the next coming in JRPG's..when FF12 on the gameplay has gotten closer to Star Ocean. Maybe FF13 will be the next coming for RPG's, but i wouldnt speak so highly of a game that i know next to nothing about, thats just premature.

Not unreal engine. 100% tri-Ace engine.

And yeah, this won't win any awards for graphical impressiveness. But hopefully it has everything else going for it.

I still laugh back when PS3 fanboys thought SO4 looked better because it was on the PS3. Now I suppose it's just because IU is their first project and it gets all the bumps and burns that come with a first title on a new platform.

Sorry, but FF is dead to me. Do you honestly think they innovate anything by releasing a game that is essentially the same once every 5 years.(minus the last release which was a complete mimickry of several other genres such as MMO's as opposed to just repeating what they have done. Was horrible too, worst RPG ive played in over a decade and that spans a hell of a lot of rpgs) So pardon me if I am quite skeptical about the next FF innovating anything other than the level of shinyness in games.

As for the games graphics, Im honestly not sure what everyone is bagging on. I think it looks great, with amazing art direction and a very clean look, I think its easily gonna be the best looking rpg to date. Atleast if they get the framerate up that is.

Finally, the UE3 engine may have issues, but to say rpgs are crap because of it is sad. While this game uses an internal SE engine like others have posted, I for one really enjoyed Lost Odyssey and thought most of it was downright gorgeous. LO was a UE game and Im happy for it as it allowed us to get an amazing game earlier than normal.(look at the vast quantity of PS3 RPGs out now or due in the next 6-12months.......)

Not really, while they do change things every iteration, the same core gameplay doesnt really change all that much. There have been a couple solid changes throughout the course, but the last 2 have shown us nothing of value(bear in mind this is an opinion, others may and do enjoy the titles changes) The series really only has 6 and 7 as groundbreaking titles, the rest were basically minor adjustments. (4 was actually my favorite in the series, of which I have beaten all 12 main lines and several spinoffs. With X-2 being included in place of XI for being beat since its impossible to beat XI)

In anycase, forgetting all that all I was saying was that due to how much I havnt liked the FF series in the past few versions, I dont have a lot of hope for XIII. They have to prove to me once again that they deserve my money, something they lost with FFXII.(my faith in square that is)
