Keiji Inafune has revealed Yaiba, a new game of his own independant studio Comcept. The creator says the game is loaded with stuff he loves "zombies, ninjas, robots, and action". No more details yet but a short teaser is here to give you a quick glimpse.

Message from Keiji Inafune

Since my departure from my former company in December of 2010, I have been thinking about how to live up to people’s expectations as an independent game creator. What do people expect of me? What do they want to see me do? A year and a half has passed after becoming independent, and I have been fortunate enough to announce several projects along the way.
I have announced three consumer titles and three social game titles. I have given speeches in various seminars, panels, universities and schools. I have published three books. I am still aggressively challenging myself in various arenas. But I asked myself “Have I covered all everything?” It felt like something is missing; something people expect from me the most. Everywhere
I go, people ask:“Are you working on it?” “ When is it coming?”
The expectation seems higher in the west. The expectation is clear. It’s for my next zombie game. There are countless zombie games out there, and yet, people say they want to see a new Inafune zombie game. I am flattered and grateful, for people associating me as a “Zombie Lover”. For that, I must, answer to this expectation. This new concept for my game was born some time after becoming independent. I don’t want to spoil everything just yet, but I hope you will enjoy my new game that is loaded with stuff I love, zombies, ninjas, robots, and action. It’s called “YAIBA”. Ihope you are excited. I know I am.

Keiji Inafune, CEO/conceptor, comcept Inc.

Cool artstyle, not sure if it's gonna be my sort of game though. Last game i enjoyed from the guy was onimusha, and that was AGES ago. Hopefully it delivers...and hopefully it isnt some Wii-U exclusive.

Artstyle is really great. But I would like to have something more like samurai. No monsters and shit. No magic........just pure kenjutsu and a lot of blood of course. Sword of the Samurai with better graphics and more gameplay variety.

Cool artstyle, seems like "dark borderlands 2 with anime stuff mixed in". Need proper gameplay videos to judge the actual game.

Is there any shooter out there that actually competed with CoD and BF though?

To stay a bit on topic, the art is kinda cool i guess but tbh, another zombie game and no gameplay in the trailer just makes me go for the "wait and see" stance, rather than getting hyped.

Looks promising even if it's ANOTHER zombie game.

Halo does, although it's not the same setting (modern combat). But it's the only shooter I can remember that pulls those numbers on the single platform it's in.

I think the big difference is that a new CoD comes out every year, selling a bazillion copies while there is a new halo roughly every 3 years. I'd say CoD as a franchise turns a considerably higher profit than Halo.

Zombies again, wow, such originality.

Being original is incredibly easy, comically so. You just need a functioning imagination.
