They used both normal mapping and speculars for his hair. ...i wish developers would let that technique go. it makes characters look like action figures. Alpha mapping is miles better looking.

Not the style they're going for. It's like asking for SS skin shaders in guilty gear.Xrd Lol

Mr Masters, good to see you again, though I kinda wished he'd be brainwashed by Shadowloo like in the Street Fighter II anime. He still looks awesome both in design and action

Looks fantastic! Geralt of Rivia's ponytail suits him! :D

The more I see the more I love the new direction, doesn't feel like a rehash but a real sequel.

Anybody else have that SNK feeling from that costume? (I mean the cool old SNK from the 90's not the J-Pop one).

Interesting new look. They've changed him quite a bit too. Still seems early like they rushed him for Comic Con. He'll look even better by the time the game releases.

It's not the best hair style to pick, In ken's situation his hair color is very bright and the parted hairbangs makes him look like Nina from SFXT.

very little flare. the hair could have been saved had they taken the two fat hair bangs up front and reversed them into a flaming ponytail.

And then those hair visuals, Street fighter 4 used Alpha mapping, don't know why they're skimping on it. Understandably they want a distinct art style to the game, problem is normal maps and highlights can only go so far on hair before it all looks hard and plastic.

Which fits the style. These are hardly realistic looking characters. They are essentially action figures, with weird proportions and oversized limbs and features. The texture work even has a slight brush stroke to it to look painted. They're not trying to replicate anything even approaching real life here. Lol. I mean, just look at nash.

Which make no sense you mean. did you also take a good look at the people around the main characters? they appear to be normal.

http://i.picpar.com/h90b.png

The crowds are essentially watching deformed toys coming to life fighting each other.

And Alpha channels would have worked fine if not better under the same shaders. Also, Alpha surfaces don't really imply a "realism". they can if their textures aren't made in the way as the other textures.

Speaking of textures i hope this game gets better over time with that. they're not looking too good.

The graphics look pretty terrible overall, I know they are going for a funky look, but it looks bad from a technical point of view -- regardless of what look they are going for.

Low quality everything, character models, textures, detail, shadow, jagfest -- very lazy.

Waiting for Barbie DLC... I don't like that new SF art style, but it always looks thousand times better in motion. I thought we will have some cool looking fighers on next gen. I want Virtua Fighter and characters to sweat and have bruises etc....maybe I'm ahead of technology, but.....no, I think it's possible. That flame effect looks great BTW.

I think SF needs finish moves. Scalping in this case would be fine. This is the game, where I really like to watch people playing it. I mean people, who know how to play it.

Yeah, i have a really hard time liking how this game looks. The hair looks really bad, like drybrushed miniatures. But i never liked how SFIV looked either, and this just looks like that style pushed even further.

Really like how they are going much further to differentiate his moveset from Ryu's compared to other games in the series.

Not sure what i feel about his new face. He looks Spanish/Portuguese now. Might not be final assets though.

seems likely. the other guys improved a lot between reveal and later appearences. chun li went from looking like she was ripped directly out of SF4 to looking tons better. i'm honestly just happy they've kept the 2D spirite stylings becasue SF4 was awful looking.
