Although you can't just go mental with a gun like in GTA and, whilst there are some side crimes to play and collectables, there may not be a whole lot to do beyond the main cases of which there are 22 and they are non linear.
So yea, to say it's like Mafia 2 is pretty inaccurate.
Anyhow, it's looking good. I just wonder if it will grab my attention from beginning to end. There must be some repetition in it if there are 22 main cases.

Sounds like the game will be a favourite for necrophiliacs
Does that mean we are terrible persons compared to Americans? Hell no. :)

Anyway, I'm still undecided about this game. They say things like "it will take a skilled detective to determine who is telling the truth and to determine guilt or innocence, but I read many previews that state each mission ends with the same results regardless. What does it matter then, if no matter what you think, the same person ends up behind bars?
I was really hoping you could put the wrong man in prison, and if you screwed up badly enough, eventually the main bad guy could get away. Instead, it seems we get our hand held the whole game to ensure we get the "right" results. Doesn't sound to groundbreaking to me....

You can also turn off all the little hints that the game can give during investigation; which I will most defiantly be doing.

I'd hate for this games detective and interrogation gameplay to be completely inconsequential. it would make the experience so much less then it could have been. hope that isn't the case.

They made it sound like it may take longer if you suck, but you will still get the same result. Kinda disappointing, as I was hoping this game would have branching paths, multiple outcomes...
Well yea, the cases do work out eventually. It's not like this game is a hardcore role playing game or anything, there is still a pretty linear over arcing narrative over the 22 cases. And it's not that the gameplay is inconsequential, there many ways to solve each case. And the speed at which you can solve them will be dictated by your effectiveness at investigating and interrogating.
I am unsure about the consequences, I don't imagine there are any apart from a low score on the particular case. I don't really see a need.

i dunno, it's sounding a bit dumbed down to me, and certainly sounding like a lot of the gameplay will feel largely inconsequential. hope all this is just hearsay tbh. cos i'll be disappointed if this is how the game is actually going to be.
