In one month, Final Fantasy VII Remake will finally appear on PS4, but in the meantime Square Enix just had the very good idea to publish a demo available on the PS Store, and here are the first 10 minutes in 4K on PS4 Pro. Update: One video added
One of 2020's GOTYs. A pity Red XIII isn't playable in the Remake - confirmed by co-director Naoki Hamaguchi in interview to VG247. That aside, the game looks gorgeous. Time to wait 1 year and 1 month for the PC and Xbox versions because exclusives suck and the companies who do them suck even harder.
Whoa, slow down there. PC yeah but Xbox? What is stopping Xbox from getting Dragon Quest XI? Or Dissidia Final Fantasy NT? Or Platinum's next game Babylon's Fall? Probably the fact hardly anyone will buy the games if Square Enix puts the effort into bringing them to that platform. That's more on the Xbox fan's part though.
And if it wasn't bad with Xbox fans not supporting buying games this whole gen, even exclusives like Sunset Overdrive which they will NEVER get again now, now they buy games even less because of game pass. There is simply no rush to get this game on Xbox, even less reason then there was when this "deal" was struck in 2015.
And I genuinely hope no Xbox version is ever on the cards as I don't want development time wasted on this platform when they should be working diligently on the next parts in the series.
There's been a rumour lately that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will come to Xbox when the exclusivity deal for the PlayStation 4 version expires in April 2021. Of course, it's just a rumour.
However, please remember that platform-exclusive franchises like Kingdom Hearts - both 3 and all the remastered games bundles - which were mainly PlayStation - excluding the spin-offs in Nintendo's handhelds - did come to the Xbox eventually. FF7R is taking a lot of money to make and this is just part 1, I'm sure Square Enix will want to recoupe as much money as possible from it.
Lastly, but not least. Final Fantasy 15 also came to the Xbox, which helped sell a lot of copies. Because when it comes to main Final Fantasy games, even Xbox players want to play them as well. With the exceptional response from all the things FF7R has released over the years, I'm sure a lot of them want to play it as well.
Then there's the fact that even remasters like Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age and Final Fantasy X / X2 HD Remaster were released on Xbox as well. And Final Fantasy 14 is coming to Xbox too. Which was a fairly recent deal with Square Enix. I'm absolutely sure Microsoft discussed FF7R with them as well, and I'm confident they must have spent a little of their hundreds and hundreds of billions to make something happen. Which they must also have used to bring Final Fantasy 15 to Game Pass.
Lastly, but not least. Phil Spencer stated that Microsoft dropped the ball with Japanese developers and fans, and they intend to bring a lot of Japanese developers back on Xbox, be it One or Series X.
Of course, it's not impossible it would skip Xbox, Sony may have paid a lot to keep it console exclusive, but the fact that they never stated - afaik - that FF7R is a console exclusive nor does it states that in the cover - both of which Sony would have shouted from the rooftops and hammered time and time again if it was the case. I just don't see FF7R being PlayStation 4/5 consoles exclusive.
Anyway, time will tell. Either way, I'm playing on PC, though the more people get to play it, the better. If Square Enix decides to ever put it on Switch or the Switch 2/Pro, I will also be happy for those people. Gaming is at its best when there's no obstacles and everyone gets to experience games in the platforms of their choosing. We all love Gaming and the more people get to experience great games, the better the Gaming community will be. Less bickering and more companionship among gamers.

Man, Fuck this game. Just makes want to play the PSX game instead. This is for new crowd out there, not me. I hope they like it and go after the real deal after.

and fuck you especially. console pony on a fucking release day, goddamn, talk about being a complete twat.
Too bad, you need a Playstation Plus subscription in order to download this demo. I don't want to spend money only to get a demo. So it is very good news to have these high quality videos from Gamersyde at least!

You don't want to bicker and yet you had to get all that out lol. You even said "lastly but not least", twice, when you were far from done ranting. Here we go then.
I am perfectly aware a bunch of old FF games eventually made it to Xbox. They were ported over to Switch, how much more effort would it have really took to bring them to Xbox? No effort, is the answer. How well did they actually sell on Xbox? Only Microsoft............oh and Square Enix know. Hopefully Xbox fans didn't let themselves down.
Please don't bring up FFXV as some sort of argument to whatever it is you were bickering about there. The FF franchise and its critically acclaimed status already died horribly with the multiplatform FFXIII. The day FF Versus XIII was announced as a main numbered multiplatform FF game at E3 2013, it died for me also.
Now, much like Resident Evil 2 Remake, the FF franchise looks to be getting back on track and I am actually excited to be buying the next game from the makers, DAY ONE, at full price.
I liked what I saw with RE2 at E3 2018 and I was right to be, I wasn't let down when I played it. FF is finally back at that high level that is expected of the franchise. The demo is SOOOOO good. Looks like focusing on one console for launch is what got them back here to this stature. I can't find any other dots to join here.
Sony never screamed about Dissidia Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest XI as being exclusives but like I said, still no Xbox versions announced to date and that had nothing to do with money from Sony.
And there is no rumour, its just a wild assumption and in people's minds, it likely it will come to Xbox at some point, but as we discussed, no guarantee whatsoever given Square Enix and their current way they ignore releasing games on Xbox or make it no sort of main priority, an afterthought if you will. Just because some people think something, doesn't instantly make it a games industry rumour, e.g. there is a rumour MGS4 is coming Xbox 360, any day now. Its now a rumour because I just said it.
Like you exclaimed though or the way I picked it up, maybe in 22 years it will come to Xbox like the original FFVII. I want the PC version to be great though and no doubt it will be. Hopefully a port studio will just bring it over. Same with the Xbox version if it ever happens. Hopefully no time will be wasted on the next installments though, ESPECIALLY a down port to Switch.

Where is that though? Do you need PS Plus in Germany or something? I thought I read that somewhere. I just checked, you do not need PS Plus on the US PS Store, I just grabbed it to see if it worked and it does.
