Xbox 360 PS3

As you are certainly aware by now the Xbox Live Marketplace demo of Stranglehold is available since yesterday, and we took the time to capture and encode a long and rather large video. Personally I've really enjoyed playing the demo, and I think I'll be able to replay it a dozen of times without getting bored. The game may think really messy while watching it, but it's definitely a title you have to play. Also a special mention for the cutscenes, quite well directed and making me want to see more. The first great John Woo "movie" since Hardboiled?

Same here. Played it through on normal, hard, and very hard.

It's really too bad the PLAYSTATION 3 version is coming later so close to Halo 3. I hope the collector's edition is still on track to come out in August...

And...swap.

No, Stranglehold is the 'sequel' to HardBoiled. That's the film.

I thought the demo was CRAZY great! I wasn't that interested in the game- but the quality of the cinema's and destruction just really turned me around. LOVED it!

I have been looking forward to this game, but my first initial impression was that the graphics could have been more impressive. However, the gameplay and destruction immediately won me back. Great demo.

I wasn't expecting a good game, when I heard it was based on a movie.. but the enviroments really do look nice, and they are really interactive. Anyways, I think this game has great potential like heavenly sword... To many killer-apps coming out this holiday though.

Hardboiled was made after The Killer, IIRC.

And yeah, I play like Paris Hilton, but it was my first try and I didn't have much time to do the video ;)

Loved the demo. If they can fix the framerate to 30 instead of having it flutter between 30 and 60 constantly then it'll be solid.

I've played through it several times already. Just too bad you have to sit through the video the first time you finish it :(

This is my Max Payne fix if Remedy never gets to do a sequel. Also, the street scene after the cop-house video is the first time you see realtime animation. In 720p that scene looks fab.. if volition and rockstar could program we might have a GTA-game that looked like that this gen (and ran properly).

edit: you can make this game look bad by playing it poorly. A good player will lean around corners, kick tables over to make cover, ride the trolly, shoot every sparkly trap thingy etc. ;)

I have to admit that in the many, many months since it's first showing Stranglehold lost some of it's flair for me, but all of that was blown away by the very nice demo. I am really impressed. Okay, the graphics aren't the best, but they are quite good and if they fix the framerate to a steady 60 I will enjoy this game even more than I usually will thx to the excellent gameplay.

Nice to finally see some AA too opposed to the screens, and the stuttering from the vids has vanished as well.

Special Edition pre-ordered a few mins. ago, thx to the outstanding demo. That's the way it's supposed to be from time to time ;)

I honestly don't understand what you guys see in this. I think the demo was horrible. The graphics are mediocre at best (i honestly thought it looked more like an xbox game than a title for the 360 some times) and while the gameplay was allright it got crapped up by some horrible animations (just look at him going over the tables and counters!) and a camera that was really REALLY annoing. But yeah, that's just me. Mybe i'm just picky.

Sorry to say but Remedy is not going to make Max Paynes anymore. They sold the rights to the Max Payne franchise to publisher (Take2?).

played the demo, and it was a lot of fun. graphics dont look as good when i finnaly played it on HDTV (the only thing impressive about the graphics were its destructible enviroments). there is a lot of things that i didnt like bout the game. the voice acting wasnt so great at all and the games story feels a lot like Red Steel's story, which isnt good. and only 7 levels will be in the final game? thats dissapointing since people are going to be paying 60 dollars for this.

but since the gameplay is so damn fun i really dont care bout thoughs things other then the 7 levels. if only this game was a bit longer i would definetly get this game despite its "meh" story and its semi-ugly graphics.
