as much as i love L4D on pc, i won't be getting this day 1. i'll get it when it's cheap on steam. when the fuck are we gonna get HL2:EP3, it's been far too long, it's not even been announced. how in the world could they release L4D2 before HL2:EP3 is beyond me.

Simply because Valve employees dont wanna make it. They chose their next project by Democracy. The ppl who work there decide what they wanna do next.

i'll put money on episode 3 being announced next year.. this years all about milking L4D. Next year i think we'll see news on ep3, portal2, and an enhanced counterstrike.

Not really sure how it can be considered 'milking' when this is only the second L4D, even though it's due for release a year after the first. When we see a L4D4/5, then we can seriously start talking about Valve milking L4D.

Oh no, don't say that was the dreaded Sarcasm™. That's gotten you into trouble before. :P

Characters look really great for the Source Engine, and in general too.
I'm excited for this.

Looking better... They need to improve the feel of the guns though. It felt like you were playing with toys in the original

I didn't think it was a downside at all, I liked how the weapons felt and played. I just want more content than the first game, which was very short (although I replayed every scene quite a few times with friends).

i thought the first was pretty damn shalloow, and rediculously short with very little replay value from the whole "director" gimmick. spawning more or less enemies in a given area does not = replayability imo.

i'll be willing to give this a go (rental, just like the first), but it needs to offer more of everything to get me even remotely interested. if it's another short , repetative experience i dont think i'm even going to bother. they need to improve this series since there are plenty of elements that need fixing/ updating from the first one, but seeing footage of this it just looks like a reskin, almost as if some modder decided to play around with the UV maps a bit.

now if this game had a more open nature to it's objectives (or how about some actual objectives...PERIOD) then i'd be all for it, and it would genuinely offer some replayability, intead of being forced down a narrow corridoor or sewer, i'd like some freedom. if i want to take the fight through the streeet then let me, if i want to take it through the sewers, then let me, if i want to take it to the rooftops, then let me, if any game needed an open approach to it's levels, this is it. i dont expect a GTA style open world. but i expect more then just a narrow corridoor that i'm slowly being forced down.

Source is still holding up well in this day. Some really good player models there, very realistic, especially the girl in screen 2. I think I'll actually wait for these two games to be bundled as the obligatory package for the price of one before jumping in.

As for HL2:EP 3 as someone else said, I was going mental about Valve being so lazy about this a while ago. Exactly where the fuck is that game, and what is taking them so long? I heard a report on it that it should be here sometime late this year, or very early in the new year. I'm not holding my breath on it, and in fact, Valve made a massive mistake in ever thinking that episodic content was the way to go. Quicker and better for the consumer they said. What a complete load of bollocks, Gabe! You could have been spending that time developing a new engine for Half Life 3!

Valve is the most talented, thoughtful and lazy developer ever. I would sacrifice all the TF2 updates in the world for Half Life 3. Really not motivated for this at all. I liked the first game a ton, don't get me wrong. But this being it's sequel just reminds me how not worth $50/60 the first was. I don't see anything proving different. I would've hoped a true sequel would build upon everything, not just enhance it.

No, you can't play as the clown. He is an "uncommon-common." You can play as the Jockey in the first screen shot above though.

The clown can attract zombies and make a horde because he has squeaky shoes on. Made me laugh the first time I read that.

That second picture in particular is really nice! The human characters look very good compared to some games I've seen. Very natural, not uncanny valley.

Also, I like the way they make their tech accessible to all. I mean, most of the half-life games could run on very low-spec machines (even the XBOX1!) and still look really good.

Can't wait!

Austin Powers: Only two things scare me and one of them is nuclear war.
Basil Exposition: What's the other?
Austin Powers: Excuse me?
Basil Exposition: What's the other thing that scares you?
Austin Powers: Carnies. Circus folk. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.

Shoot the lot.
