Xbox 360 PS3 Wii DS

Warner announced today the upcoming release of Lego Rock Band, a strange mix of the famous plastic blocks and the now also famous Rock Band game. And with songs such as Song 2, Kung Fu Fighting, The Final Countdown and others, it could even be great!

I believe they said that there would be a Lego game this year but it wouldn't be what you expect.

They were right.

if any franchise was to be given the lego treatment, rock band isnt the first thing that comes to mind. i mean, what's the point?

i guess this is basically going to be the child version of rockband, where you may get a single note every 5 seconds, even on expert. lol

Rockband is a game where you play karaoke music on toy guitars. LEGO is perfect for this game! :D

Whats the point? If it is just skins its nothing special. GH and RB is about music. All LEGO-games out now have a theme (Star Wars, Indy, Batman and so on), Don`t see the value in this, but it will probably sell.

I've been a big fan of the Lego games, they're a lot of fun even if Batman seemed a little lacking. But I have to say, I really don't see the point in this either. I've always been against the idea of making Lego versions of other games, because they'd essentially just be reskinned versions, and this proves that point.

I'd much rather see a Lego Harry Potter or the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings.

Rock Band is about rhythm. Children have none.

It's not THAT bad. And I don't think the idea is that it's just reskinned.

Look at the song selection, it's clearly meant to be less about rock and more about fun, less mature music that everyone loves (/hates).

Oh and DDRMidian, not all children are lacking in rhythm.

Rockband/guitar hero doesn't need this, waht Rockband/guitar hero needs is a hard rock/metal version with all the bullshit songs cut out. More Dragon force, Ozzy, The sword and stuff like that. Music that actually have good guitar parts. Not kung fu fighting with lego graphics.

Good on them. Once this and the Beatles game releases, they will have a product that sits in three major demographics.
Smart really. And honestly, if they market it right, this will sell like mad.

I work for a Lego store in the UK, and my manager tells me that this is simply another money making idea by Lego, as they are running out of ideas, since they've done pretty much everything with the Star Wars franchise as well as the rest of the less popular brands.

This is supposedly going to be a hit according to the guys at Lego HQ...

There's a TON of things Lego could do with games .... but this shouldn't be it. I mean you can already add whatever songs you fancy through DLC, so this is just a re-skinned version of Rock Band, which could probably also have been added through DLC. Totally pointless.

Yes, this does seem a bit pointless although I must admit that graphics wise, besides the cute take on the genre, it might not look worst than the original... I think the problem is that both GH / RB lack good art direction.
