Here are the (about) ten first minutes of Resurrection of Evil, the stand-alone add-on for Doom 3. Personally, I'm a big fan of Doom 3, so it wasn't hard for me to love this add-on. But with the new features of the game, I'm sure even people who didn't really enjoyed the first one, because of the gun / flashlight switching thing, could really appreciate this one.
Firstly, a light is now stuck to the handgun. A very good news for those who didn't like to switch permanently between light and attack. But the others, like me, who were worried about the lack of atmosphere this change could cause can stop eating their hands: there's a lot of news in RoE. For exemple, after the flashlight of the original game, the new gameplay gimmick is now a sort of gravity gun. With it, you can grab every movable object in the sets and throw it as a weapon, over ennemies. You can grab crates, explosive barrels, but also some little monsters (like theses terrible flying fire-heads) and even the fire / plasma bullets some Imps throw at you. Ah, I can tell you I really enjoy to return to these bastards their own fire balls... Revenge time, my friends !
Last word on the technical part of the game. You'll maybe not believe me, but RoE is even more beautiful than Doom 3, which was almost perfect. The bump-maps are cleaner, character modeling is alot better, and the game is totally smooth. But the big point is about the sets. You can say bye to the long plastic corridors of Doom 3, the environments here are organic, made of curves, looking absolutely great. And I'm not even talking about the fantastic lighting. In its category, Doom 3 RoE is, by far, the most beautiful game available on Xbox. Oh hell yeah !
Shortly, RoE is an excellent add-on. It's quite short unfortunately (about 8 hours) but if I remember correctly, the game is not at full price (after check: 30 bucks). Anyway, there's enough new features to consider buying it, and I'm sure people who were not really sweet on Doom 3 could be interested in this one. And, headshot argument, the game contains the full versions of the two first Doom, playable in solo, Co-op and Deathmatch... I'm afraid this is an offer you can't refuse ;)

I know this doesn't have anything to do with this post but I searched for hours and I finally found some nba 2k6 gameplay footage from X05 I would post the link but I'm pretty sure blim is going to post his sometime soon so I don't wanna spoil the suprise but from what I seen it looks and plays pretty damn good its a must buy
this does look good as far as xbox goes though, wow. but i personally never liked that particular cavern area of doom3 PC that much. i prefered the interior delta labs and all. i wonder if this game goes back to the mars labs?...
I'll probably get this since I haven't played the expansion on the PC.
That Grabber looks like a good addition to the old school gameplay.
Never mind, the other link worked. I'm lucky enough to be blessed with pretty fast broadband, otherwise I'd be miffed. :D
I'm hoping blim has one in better quality? can't wait to see!
anyone seen him speak?
