First 10 minutes Xbox 360 PS3

We are still waiting to get our own copy of Red Dead Redemption but thanks to a very generous Gamersyder who lent us a 360 version of the game, we can offer you the first ten minutes that follow the excellent opening sequence of the game. We should be able to show you more videos in the upcoming days, all accompanied by our detailed impressions, so stay tuned. Until then, I hope you enjoy this first video that ooze atmposhere, to say the least.

My imppression fromthe video - what? you still have to tap a button to sprint? FU Rockstar, analogue sticks were introduced in 1990's, it's time to use them.

You just hold the button and let go of the direction stick and it'll just run. You don't have to tap.
You do tap to drive your horse which makes sense since he has stamina.

Also the landscape is enormous

The beggining of all GTA games are kinda slow and boring, this is no exception.

Riding your horse is sometimes frustrating because it doesn't always do what it should do.
Maybe that's because it's a living animal instead of a machine you control?

My preordered copy still hasn't been sent, which sucks..

Have been playing for 2 hours now. So far, not impressed. It's not bad by any means, but there are some things that bothered me.
I have the PS3 version, and the frame rate is not consistent. Still tapping to sprint is annoying. Riding your horse is sometimes frustrating because it doesn't always do what it should do. I've had 2 occasions of random side missions (missions while your free roaming) where they ask for my help, and when I stop to help, they just begin to run around like chickens without a head.
I hope it picks up from now on, so I feel involved in the story.
This is just a first impression, I'm sure it will get better the longer I play.
If you can't appreciate this game you don't appreciate videogames. I'm sorry but the artistry , details and amount of work that went into this game wasn't lost on me. This game is phenomenal ! Yes I could nitpick on small things that I dislike but thats true for any great and classic videogame ever made. On the opposite spectrum I could list everything I love about this game but I would be writing a novel. Simply put Red Dead Redemption is a masterpiece.

Lol nexus that's what I told gamersyde yesterday about how this game is a masterpiece! It is really is something special. Guys at gamersyde you need screenshots of the game in the early morning when the sun is rising and its raining heavily with puddles on the ground and the suns god rays breaking through the clouds, it's more beautiful than any sunset.

played the single player now for a good hour..it's not as instantly impressive as GTA4 was the first time you booted it up - probably because the worlds not as detailed and packed. The visuals are stunning though as the sunlight hits everything..and you start to notice loads of nice little details the more you play.

Frame rates been solid so far. And Rockstar never fail to impress with the voice talent in their games.

The horses... i do think it would of been better to have their pace sensitive to the anolog stick..rather than tapping/holding A. It makes it quite clumsy to hold A and be prompted to press B to check out something of importance at the same time. Although i do like that if you push the horse too hard it will buckle and throw you off.

Controling the character though feels nice and fluid, and the shooting/cover system is alot more solid than GTA4.

Animations excellent for the most part..although i have seen it break on occasion. Theres also some very realistic animations for when animals get shot.. which to be honest i cant say i'm too keen on - thats just me though

Had a game of multiplayer.. free roam seemed abit confussing. Got in a team death match game and it was ok..abit hard to tell the enemys at first. The connection was solid though.. i had heard multi was broken, but maybe the day 1 patch fixed that

Overall pretty damn good. I'm hoping it'll live up to the review scores it's been getting

theres no novelty in killing people in games now i guess.. pretty much seen it and done it all in their torment. Animals are still very fresh..games dont normally push you to kill them. It's not like it breaks my heart to kill them or anything.. it just offers more of an initial impact seeing a little wabbit skid across the dirt as it's head flops back...than the first time you shoot a guy in a cowboy hat.

Speaking of animals..why can i ride the cows in this game. They're begging for it

Jaggies never looked so good. They've really nailed the daytime ambience. It's probably the best I've seen so far in a videogame as I can think of none at the moment that are on this level. I've read that the PS3 version is slightly inferior in resolution compared to the 360, and that the framerate drops a little more. I'd like to see the PS3 version to confirm this. So far this generation has been the most confusing. One console claims that it's too powerful to port a game from the alledged inferior console. The alledged inferior console seems to defy all odds and keeps impressing. So does that mean that Dreamcast games ported over to the PS3/360 would look inferior on the more powerful consoles. I wonder who started this nonsense.

well that's a bit off topic.

Not having played the game, I hope it doesn't control like the GTA's.

Sad to say, but that might be your problem right there. I don't mean to sound like I'm giving the ps3 hell, because I'm not, it's just the PS3 version of this particular game is an embarrassment next to the 360 build.

Someone that owns both a 360 and a PS3 would just have to be out of their damn mind to choose the PS3 version of this game. Just talk about punishing ones self lol (Not assuming you own both machines, just saying in general).

My brother bought this for the PS3, and good lord, what a joke. I'm sure any potentially base game related bugs/issues should remain the same between the two versions, however, as far as framerate and level of detail are concerned, the PS3 version of this game got the short end of the stick big time.

It's in even worse shape than the PS3 version of GTA IV, in my opinion. It's fairly obvious now why the developers refused to show anything but the 360 version leading up to release. There are many games that look and run like a dream on the PS3, Uncharted 2/God of War III, this game is not one of them, and that's obviously not due to lack of capability on the PS3's end, it's because the game clearly didn't receive the kind of laser like focus that the 360 version got.

That's just putting it honestly. Because if it did, the PS3 version would be in much better condition than what it is.

How most reviews didn't acknowledge this fact just baffles me.

Some reviewers may not have gotten a PS3 copy and just copy and pasted the 360 review. That being said, Rockstar really dropped the ball on this. They made engine improvements with Episodes from Liberty City for the PS3 so there is no reason for the port ending up like this.
