Shooter overload, and most have the audacity to deliver shallow campaigns (present company withstanding) :). Worst is that they get away with it. Ohh gaming industry when will you wise up.

Omniscient: The game sells so why blame the gaming industry? Their goal is to make money by making games. Why introduce something new while the old still sells tons of copies? The industry does not create the market, the users do. The market can only amplify the already existing opinions and beliefs.

I still can't believe they are going with that box art... it looks so unremarkable... like some fan made "cos-play" photo.

The Gaming industry doesn't just apply to the business end of Gaming, it references its whole eco system that therefore includes Gamers, Developers, Publishers, Reviewers, basically everything Gaming related.

My qualm is with these forces that make a game like Modern Warfare a commercial success, a critical success and appartently a gaming success sharing the podium with the pantheons of gaming such as Bioshock.

It totally sends the wrong message. I don't despise people for enjoying these shooters (to each their own), but tangibly speaking the reception these games recieve commercially and critically doesn't equate to the experience found on the disc, and I know it's all relative, but I think it's pretty conclusive now that if one enjoyed Modern Warfare 1 you needn't sign up for Mordern Warfare 30 :).

"So as you can see from our brand-new game engine it looks incredible and still runs at 60 fps. We also removed the infinite enemy respawn when you don't advance past the invisible lines...er wait. Sorry. We just added different maps and stuff." Enjoy your $60 expansion pack suckers!

I hate my friends for being fans, but hey, they are human.

I think you are contradicting urself, no offense.

If its all relative (and we all know it is) then it's not pretty conclusive that when one enjoys playing modernwarfare 1, he/she should not get/enjoy/or sign up for the next (MW) in line (3,4,5,10,40,100).

Personally I find the series to be a fun twitchy shooter and I hope they keep on making MW games.

I'm actually one of the few who enjoys the singleplayer. (don't tell anyone though)

Don't be ashamed I also hugely enjoy the SP component of these titles and trust me, you are hardly one of the "few people" who enjoy it.

In my opinion, the way the game feels is extremely close to perfection, sure in the future I would love to see the levels open up and become less linear but the core shooting mechanics are the gold standard. At this point I feel like I am a long way away from getting tired of the franchise and in terms of military shooters, nothing else comes close, it fulfills my need to play this subgenre of FPS.

The Treyarch entries are weak though, I would honestly prefer if they just release a quality title every two years instead of the "off years" with the second string efforts. It won't happen while the sales are so high though, that would be like not milking the cow of liquid gold...

That's my point, I would love a future warfare as well but then there will be no contemporary themed military shooter of any worth out there since the competition keep on failing to deliver a comparable experience.

Syndicate looks like it might fulfill that role pretty nicely though...

But how many modern war games do we need, might as well let Medal of Honor and BF duke it out and let COD move on like they did from WW2 and then MoH followed.

The next MoH will be modern again so if COD went with something like GR Future Soldier and overhauled visuals and gameplay (high tech and such) then people will be interested in COD once again.
But if they keep spewing out MW and then Treyarch with their crap each year then it wont work.

Or...

Public Enemy - "Don't Believe the Hype" it's another shitty sequel, as an equal can i get this through to you.

MoH looked better than this, so glad i'm finally been put off buying this gaming equivalent of a Big Mac, looks nice but tastes like sh**.

I wouldn't mind a COD set in the future.

Point is, as long as they (inf.ward) keep making them and the modern-type is still there for those who want to experience the 'now' and not the future.

Not sure how MOH will do in the future but at the moment it's not my type of game.

@Munkini: good to know I'm not alone and I agree. U explained it well there ;)

I would of bought this sath but going by that commentary video from IW and Sledgehamnmer (who!?) it put me off! It looked even more arcadey than the previous MW's! I dunno m8 i just love BF3's gun's and mechanics, i really wish you could of experienced the PC version using Mumble to chat as the game really opens up more when your playing as a team! Plus i don't think you gave it enough time because you never unlocked the guns and the add ons, but hey each to their own.

I don't know why but it annoys when you have people like sledgehammer talking about a title as if they have developed it from the start, talking as if this is their baby! Yeah i know i'm weird but it gets on my tit end haha!

I played Bad Company 2 on PC for hours basically forcing myself to enjoy it, but I never did because of the huge maps and random deaths and the really awkward movement and gunplay.
I hate slow controls and huge maps in shooters, I like to rush and run and gun and have that intense gunfight all the time, thats something BF3 doesnt offer like MW3 is doing.

If I didnt like BC2, BF3 is out of the question for me. I am not gonna waste money on a game I dont like just for the sake of "PC version and team work" will be different.
I played the beta on PC as well if you remember, samething there, not for me.

About the Sledgehammer thing, yeah I agree.
They are fans of COD and they are getting paid so of course they will be enthusiastic and hype you up.

I wonder where that guy from COD4 went, the one with the beard, he gave good interviews hehe.
