Xbox 360

I've found on a forum this video made by a talented PGR3 fan presenting the incredible details the Bizarre Creations 3D modelers put in Project Gotham Racing 3's cities. And to think we all zip past these at more than 150 mph, it just feels like an incredible "waste" of talent...
Many thanks to DanteNeverDies for the video !

Photo Mode I presume, in photo mode you can wander away from your car and just look around the place, but I have not fooled with PM too much, but this is amazing, it makes me wanna play right now!!!! I think I will damnit!!!

Oh and if you are talking about how they got it to the PC, then a capture card would be the answer I presume.

Amazing video. I think those building look pretty damn photorealistic. Can't even start imagining XB360 in a few years. I still dont have mine, and I'm not exactly pissed, but I'm disappointed and bored and frustrated. Its been almost a month, and im 1st on second shipment and my Gamestop hasnt seen a single console since launch.

nice video
ive been playing this game since launch day and i of to say the game is pretty good, i would give it 8.5 out of 10. the close up the graphic are good but in a far distant its not that good - but i think pgr4 will be a blast because it won,t be rushing to to launch and the graphics will be much better and smoother. i would love to see pit stop in pgr5, and i hope i can pimp my ride in pgr4.

there's reasons why these things don' exist, cause it's not that kind of game. and bizarre have said that they will not be introducing 'pimp my ride' style stuff.

u dont necesarily need a capture card to get the footage. I've recorded some direct feed xbox 360 stuff (www.plankfilms.com/360.htm) and i just have this box that converts the signal, so you can plug any scart/phono/svideo thing into it and the editing program recgnises it as a camera! (Firewire port with 'iMovie' on 'Powerbook'). I can only capture 480i at 50hz, but it still looks decent on internet vid!

you may need some sort of card for Pc's though since they dont have fire wire built in always!

The 360 has gotten some negative backlash from 1. Sony fans and 2. people dissappointed from the leap, or lack there of, from current gen games to the launch titles.

People familiar or associated with the industry know the technical issues and hurdles launch titles face (and the hurdles developers must overcome in getting their entire staff up to speed in making a next gen game... everyone needs to be on the same page with the right tools) but if there is one game that demonstrates that the Xbox 360 is not some "Xbox 1.5" or a "Dreamcast 2" it is PGR3.

The game is beautiful artistically and has a lot of demanding rendering effects. As developers get up to speed on the techniques, abilities, and requirements of making next gen looking games AND they have a full development cycle with the hardware we can expect more games with rendering techniques similar to PGR3. Most devs wont have the time, money, or resources to take a couple hundred photographs of cities and digitize them (only AAA titles will have that kind of budget) but the rendering techniques that make this game look so hot will be coming.

In that respect all the devs using UE3 is kind of dissappointing. Yes UE3 looks good, but it uses all the same techniques and ideas. Visuals is about pairing technology with art style and assets, and so we may see a lot of games with a similar "feel". So far I get that very feeling when I see GOW, UT2007, Too Human, Mass Effect, Huxley, etc. All different art assets and some different styles, but not too much. And the graphical "feel" of lighting and shadowing is all very similar. And due to the design goals of the engine (like no dynamic destruction to the word, typical Epic animation) they all feel very similar.

Here is to hoping games like Halo 3 is to UE3 games as PGR3 is to NFS:MW or Full Auto. A proprietary engine built for a specific platform/game with a AAA budget should look completely mind blowing.

dude, look at that HoopWorld game... it's UE3.
I really think it's up to the developer, especially when it comes to that engine.
It's capable of just about anything, afaik.

It's just a really popular engine right now, because it's arguably the best middleware solution available.
As well, a lot of developers are going for a more realistic feel in their designs, which that engine is very capable of.

Just coincidence really.

(and occasionally a lack of vision, or expertise... like with Frame City Killers, lol)
