PS3

The 2007 edition of the Consumer Electronics Shows is happening right now in Las Vegas. Among all the crazy gadgets on display, here comes a new video of LittleBigPlanet presented by Kyle Shubel. This exclusive Playstation 3 title is awaited with much hype. We learn how to create "Y"s in order to build a tree and give it leaves.

Definitely one of the neatest games in recent years. Won't you able to share your creations online?

im all for creating neat maps and trees, but ... umm... beyond that whats the goal of the game? is it just that to create levels?

i mean spore's goal was to create a civilization and to expand and survive and thrive....

what the goal of the players in littlebigplanet.

It does feel like you haven't seen any of the previous fottage of LBP...

You can make your own backgrounds, characters and entire game systems, you can give them scripts, behaviours and AI to react to and can make any game out of them. Just carve a stone and it will have stone like properties, cut a cloth and it will have cloth dynamics, make a human dummy and it'll have rag-doll initiated...got that ?!!!

Entirely physics based.... its like you making a Mario game, ulltra beautifully, or a Mortal Kombat, Or a MGS title...just name it in any genre.
Some recent demos are like marketing tutorials, which show you that game creation with such great embedded physics was never so easy but is now.

The greatest aspect is that you can share your entire game online with friends, Just wait till you see people making games of spectacularly creative new ideas...

Link, Mario, Kratos, Ratchet, Snake, Master Chief or Ryu Hayabusa.......make what you ever wanted to. Nintendo's, Microsoft's or any of the other's iconic properties are going to get owned by Sony, and there won't be a copyright issue since everyting is fan-made. The best Mario game might just be on PS3, exclusively !!!

Ok we get you have fallen for the hype, now welcome back to reality, this game will not allow you to "create anything you want" it's basicaly a 2d physics based platfromer with a really nice editor and a clever online distribution system.

My sentiments exactly. I can see that this can become one of those neat cult games but I wouldn't expect it to be the end of the world in terms of gaming (as some people claim it to be). It's still bound by the rules set by it's designers (no, I don't fall for that "it's your game crap").

And if it's making games and sharing them online that you want, there are already plenty of solutions that allow you to make a game within the hour (xna, jme, etc.).

Whenever that game Farooq was talking about ships, let me know. As for this game, it looks really unique and creative. I've seen what users have been able to do with somewhat more constrictive tools like Forza 2 and Mii creation, and have been surprised what's been created with the limitations. I wonder what we'll see from users with this.

Little big planet is a side scrolling platformer with a built in level editor and the main focus is on making your own levels...i don't see what there is not to like about it! Okay, so admittedly many player created maps will be crappy or depicting genitalia, but, there's still bound to be some fun levels and creative things happening with this game.

I'm most certainly looking forward to it and you know, i might just get a PS3 again when this drops :)

I never thought fanboyism could cheer me up, but Farooq's managed. :D

It reminds me of when me and my friends were so young we filled the gaps where REAL knowledge should be with totally made up fluffy stuff. Of course, noone else had a clue about anything either, so we'd just get so caught up in it we went home wide eyed from the most AWESOME SOUNDING GAMES EVER.

And it was so great because none of us were evil or anything. I mean Megido here visiting Wii threads is all about evil, but Farooq just seems wide eyed from the most awesome sounding game ever. :D

And while I will surely miss making uh.. Metal Gear Solid was it? In LBP, I think this looks utterly amazing. It's too bad it couldn't have come out when we expected it to because that would've given the PS3 a nice incentive to go with Uncharted in the run-up to christmas, but bad game forever, good game out eventually, etc, Miyamoto quote and so on.

I also expect it to have more staying power beyond the initial heart explosion than Loco "incredibly loveable but ultimately wafer thin" Roco did.

saying im excited by it is an understatment. the prospect of making the whole of mario bro's kinda turns me on, but not as much as being original with my creativity. they recently added death to LBP (beore nothing in the world could actually kill you) and im hoping you can create basic enemy's and AI paths (otherwise my dreams of re-making mario will be very short lived when you come across a goomba and realise its a sticker attatched to a rock, although i supose it could just be mario themed??)

cant wait. and the little customisable sack boys/girls have a huge amount of charm despite being voiceless, almost faceless, blobs.
