money shot, right there: http://images.gamersyde.com/image_castlevania_lord...

I just hope it is a proper castlevania with good ammounts of exploration, because i'm seeing a lot of God of War touches in the grapling hook, QTE tackle on big foes, balancing on top of wood logs (shit moment on GoW) and the combat with the whip looks very similar to the kratos blades.

I hope not. It's castlevania 4 god sake, you can't get more identity than that.

Has there been a good 3d Castlevania game? Is there someone attached to this who has a proven track record?

I've been anticipating this game since the E3 '09 debut trailer. Hope to hell the gameplay can do it justice.

Kojima is acting as some sort of "special consultant" on the game, so at least it's got that going for it.

Well, looking up the dev team basically destroyed all hopes of this not sucking. Jericho and Scrapland isn't exactly he first titles i think of when quality games are the topic.

I just watched the E3 trailer again.

God, this is probably my most anticipated game of the year. The production values are just off the charts.

But Megido, take this into account. Rocksteady, developer of Arkham Asylum, developed some pretty shitty games prior to Arkham Asylum. You never know. It just might click for the Lords of Shadow team and all their previous shitty work will just be "practice".

Might be, but i'm still going to be cautious about it. I'll need reviews and possibly a demo before i fork out any money now :P

Looks a little flat but still quite decent. I really hope it's an adventure game though and not just a God of War style button masher.

Perhaps you should research before you reassure. Rocksteady only made one game prior to Arkham Asylum. That was Urban Chaos: Riot Response and it has an average critic rating of 75%. Not incredible, but hardly shitty. I rather enjoyed it anyway.

Sorry to remind you,but simon or the Belmonts had the Whip long long time before even Kratos was born.

Look at Castlevania 4,what you call a grapling hook was used by Simon.
So..it's more the other way around and Kratos was inspired by Castlevania if at all.

In the end...does it really matter ??

No,as long as it's good !

Or...Bionic Commando :)

I dont even think GoW created QTE. Dont forget that Japanese devs comes up with all these way before the western devs, in one way or the other.

And the chain thing...Rygar.

Besides, what makes you think there is QTE on big foes in Lords of Shadow anyways? Did it get confirmed or something? I hope not because QTEs pisses me off.

I think Shenmue was pretty much the first game with QTEs. At least that's where the moniker "quick time events" comes from.

Yeah, maybe, because Dynamite Cop was the first game I played with whatever QTEs were called before Shenmue, and it was out a full year before Shenmue.
