We finally got our hands on Lords of the Fallen's Old Monastery gameplay video. It's in 720p sadly but at least you can get a good look at it. The action-RPG title from CI Games will be released this year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

I like the artstyle, visuals and the design of main character, but the combat being pretty much Dark Souls from stamina to constantly keep going in circles with enemies for an opening turns me off instantly.
Though attack speedwise, this is faster.
That's blasphemy! The Gamer's Bible clearly states in Chapter #1, Verse #1: "Man shall never speak ill of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls."
Repent from this sin yea hath commited this day!
Strange how it's current gen only too, as visually there's nothing to suggest it wouldn't run fine on last gen platforms.
At least you didn't say something moronic though, like "looks like a PS2 game"

One thing i like about the combat compared to Souls though is, its much faster which is good.
I need to see much more, maybe some power skills or something.
Anyway, i'm not particularly impressed by this. The art is pretty boring and the gameplay has a lot to prove before i'm sold. I mean, with Darks Souls 2 coming in less than a month and then The Witcher 3 on the horizon, i don't see that this will be anything other than something in between, at best. But hey, i hope i'm wrong. Wouldn't complain if we got a good action/rpg thingy.
However it still feels kinda generic in the material, an "all male" selection of guys being over the age of 35, with some of them being bald. Had i not taken a chance to even look at this in motion; i would have passed it.
developers seriously need to stop shoving out more stereotypical He-man content.

Now, to be honest i'd like to see more games do storytelling right, and tell well thought out and fleshed out stories. But let's be real here, the big mass of players can't tell good storytelling from The Room (youtube it). I just don't think there's a lot of money to be made off of games that try to appeal to the demographics that appreciate solid and well thought out stories. At least not enough that a AAA publisher is gonna be willing to stick it's neck out for such a project anyway. No, smaller games and indies are probably gonna be the ones to supply the more "mature" content for the foreseeable future (and by mature i don't mean tits and gore). I haven't even played Gone Home (so i'm not commenting on the quality of the title, but rather the nature of it), but do you think EA would sink a couple million buckaroos in to that shit? I kinda doubt it. Not when they can make Dead Space 4: Lazermageddon and make their money back on release day.

If you got to decide every game would be a hack n slash.

I mean come on man, open up a bit. Try to embrace NEW things. Turn based games can be fantastically exciting and heart pounding, so can slower paced games. Just give other stuff a chance.
And orchestra isnt the only good music to me, you forgot electronical synth music like Blade Runner and Mass Effect or Tron Legacy sort of type, thats two genres :P
I have played a wide variety of genres, but the ones that i dont fancy, i dont need to go back to since i dont enjoy playing them. If i dont ennjoy playing them, why waste time on them.
I mean, there are very few jRPGs i like but that doesn't mean that the genre is inherently flawed or unenjoyable for me. It just means that many of the games in it are of pretty low quality. Final Fantasy, in general, can eat a bag of dicks, Persona 4 is amazing.
I also very much appreciate the mass effect series as well, even with their criticisms their content still sets them apart from the many generic he-man only games out there.
