Xbox 360

The demo of Lost Odyssey is now available since a few days in Japan and while waiting for my 720p videos, hopefully next week, here is a rather low quality one but still quite interesting. Clearly the game is still quite early, and I wonder if it really was such a great idea to distribute this demo.

Was this demo distributed on DVD or was it put up on the Japanese XBL Marketplace?

It was distributed on dvd with the Fam mag

And i kind of agree with you Blim, Even though i know this game will rock hard; It was probably a mistake to have such an early demo. The graphics look good even though thier alittle rough in some areas. But people can't seem to stop complaining about the damn combat

It was mentioned millions of time that its olny the basic elements yet complaining is all your'll hear

But it could be also understood. Even FFXII was able to incorporate a combat that looked real time and they had viewable enemines

I know it was also mentioned that the creator is messing around with some real time elements, and since he ade the enemies viewable in Blue Dragon, i have no fear LO will deivate from that

EDIT: I also hope that the camera is brought in a little. Its horrible having it so far back. Reminds me of the awful Too Human camera

I hope you saw the beginning of this game? The transition between the CGI and game is unnoticable.

Crap! I bought Famitsu 360 instead of Weekly thinking the game would be on that one.

This game is looking really great. A little dissappointed that it's turn-based as those kinds of games bore me to death. Might have to pick this one up regardless and just play a little at a time.

I hope Sakaguchi makes the adventure camera come closer to the character. It's a bit too far out.

I picked up this weeks famitsu a couple days ago and have played through this demo myself a few times. I have to say it looks amazing and sounds amazing, but it has some quirks in it. I forgive the gameplay and real lack of story in the demo but it had some freaky things in it too, like some really ugly trees in the town. They looked like poor PS2 trees. Characters moved a bit slow, and it had a slight jerk in the movement. Some areas were absolutely stunning though.

I really hope they improve the camera too, maybe make it adjustable instead of fixed. I thought the depth was fine as I hate when they move in too close, ruins the feel of the game to me, but not being able to rotate it was kind of annoying. To me atleast, the game had a very similar feel to it as FF7 does. Infact, it reminds me of a next gen FF7 in nearly every way.

This game is dead to me until I see some real-time elements, as in 70% realtime and 30% turn-based. Show us your gaming innovation skills Sakaguchi!!! SHOW US!!

I'm not going to say the game is boring at the moment, as I am in love with it, I don't mind watching LO videos over and over again!! I just hope they add the realtime elements, and let us press a few hit buttons consecutively to execute some serious immortal ownage.

Regardless, if the story/characters are compelling enough, this will be the second JRPG I complete, the first being Skies of Arcadia, but that is only because the story was amazing and I could relate to the characters, and the main character (Vyse) actually looked and acted like a guy, and didn't flirt with the idea of being a he-she.

I agree about the camera being far off, but at the same time that yields a wider view of your surroundings, so I guess it's a trade off.

The game looks interesting..

man this game is so early in development and the graphics look amazing..with that art style, when it complete id argue it looks better than FFXIII, and the gameplay looks like the closest thing to FF so man im really exited about this game now!!!!i hope they put the demo on XBL so i can play it myself.

and for the rest of you, dont complain about graphical hiccups, or gameplay twerks....the game is like what, 15-20%???lol

The game is 45% with graphics about 80% in completion. I would believe that the remaining 20% will be frame rate touch ups, texture touch ups and probably some changes with the camera angles hopefully. This is excellent seeing how early the game is, and I'm very eager to see this premature sys. that Sakaguchi wants to implement into the battle system. I can tell that it's nothing simplistic, if it wasn't already implemented yet. Believe one is called 'growth' and another is called 'control'. Interested in seeing what the both bring to the table.

Graphically it looks great, gameplay is meh though. I'm sick of playing the same RPG over and over again with a different story and graphics, I was hoping Mistwalker would try something new for a change.

because you know all there is to know from a game by playing a very early short demo?

and as far as the game's completion, im shure its far from done, especially since Mistwalker has been working on Blue Dragon all this time..so there should be alot to look forward to in the future fom Lost Odyssey now that Blue Dragon is almost out of the way.

I think this demo won't be on XBL, because Core System version of 360 is on sale from 11/2 in Japan too.
This demo is for those who can't download it, and it won't be on XBL (such as R6:vegas in US).
