design bug, theirs no bluffing your enemy when your out of ammo as the damn screen shows the count on both sides, so your enemy will know exactly just by looking when theirs only 1 shell left lol

design bug
Yeah, it's probably a sprite that's the same on both sides. It's one of those cool-looking, but otherwise totally impractical things you find in sci-fi. I mean, in real combat, an ammo counter is sort of useless compared to something as simple as a transparent magazine.

I still think it's ridiculous they're putting ammo into a universe that had limitless ammo guns just years before, but I trust Bioware enough that I'm not worried. If the game sucks, then I'll be worried.

Character models definitely look good, but, at least in these screens, the environments aren't as impressive.

Is it me or did the graphics take a hit? Not too worried as it still looks good but seems less sharp then what seen before.

Either way, Dragon Age looked like crap but is still an amazing game, so the fact it's Bioware alone has me pretty sure the game will be good. I just hope it's a longer than the first game.

Actually, an ammo counter that is only visible to the firer, ie inside an optic or tactical helmet is very useful but a big hologram that can be seen by both sides and gives away position by projecting light is pretty retarded and certainly not something that would ever become a popular feature.

Still, overall the design of this game is very nice despite this gap in logical thinking although the framerate will hopefully improve a great deal before launch.

@munkini: what's wrong with the current framerate? It's still WAY better than in original Mass Effect. Way more stable.

I actually had this discussion with a friend of mine who's in the British army, he said that having a digital or otherwise numeral monitor of the ammo count means the soldier has to take his attention off of what he's doing to check it, and has to take up valuable space in his field of view (whether it's located on a sight or otherwise).

A transparent magazine (many modern rifles allow for you to see the ammo count without unloading the magazine) on the other hand means that the soldier can keep it in his peripheral vision, and has a general sense at all times how much ammo he has before a reload without having to read any numbers.

In Aliens the guns had LED monitors on the side, as a compromise between realism and having them there for the benefit of the audience (since ammo counts were important to the pacing of the film.) Ammo counters are really only useful for vehicles and for audiences/gamers.

Also, having a display like that which displayed the correct orientation of numbers in both directions is pretty much impossible. So I imagine Bioware will probably fix that before shipping, or they dont expect the viewer to see the other side.
