Although Mass Effect 3 is still due by year's end, EA and Bioware keep the pressure by publishing sparingly assets and info about its upcoming RPG. So here are two images that fans should scrupulously analyze.

Definitely looks pretty similar to 2, but I haven't really seen enough to say definitively one way or the other.

Most stupid idea of the year award goes to...

Seriously, mass effect is one of those games that does no need fancy pants visuals, the story and awesomeness is more than enough.

Quoted for Agreed. graphic whores in full effect. The game is good, and the story is epic. Unless in 3 years they will upgrade the writers as well as art team. Give it to me, I am ready now.

That's a good thing, the last thing Mass Effect needs is to go all brown and grey on us!

QFE, the great thing about the Mass Effect games is that they are told so beautifully and are so in depth that they don't need to look like Uncharted 3 to be considered great.

People who want to have their eyes melted with crazily good graphics all the time will never be satisfied and, as a result, will be constantly disappointed with whichever generation of consoles we are in until they look like real life.

Trust me when the next generation hits it'll be fine for a year or two and then it'll be all "this looks so rubbish in 1080p 60Hz, everything should be in "X"p and 120Hz!". Its sad really.

I will say this in every UE3 game, but if they put the lighting of Bulletstorm and Gears 3 in this that will make a huge impact on visuals.

I for one can't wait for this, surprisingly Im loving the latest UE3 games being Bulletstorm and the Gears 3 Beta, they look beautiful IMO.

just looks like ME2 visually, which isn't surprising really. never expected a jump in graphics. but who the fuck are these guys? seriously, if the geth aren't the main enemy in the third game I'm gonna be pissed, i hated that they weren't in the second despite how important their role was in the first. instead we got the crappy brown collector guys.

I'd also love to see a return of all the great crew that made up the first game since they where far more interesting. not just cameo's but party members. and ideally i'd like some sort of central enemy to fight against, the first game had both saren AND sovereign who where AWESOME bad guys, the second game had no-one. made it all the more forgettable imo.

basically i'd like the third to combine the combat of 2 with everything else from 1. if past bioware games are any indication tho, then ME3 will be even more dumbed down. hope that aint the case.

guys seriously....they already said that ME3 will use ME2s Playstation 3 engine. And on PS3 there are hardly any differences (but noticeable after a while). So stop with these "looks like ME2". OF COURSE it looks like ME2.

Looks like ME2...

Just kidding but I would say looks like Unreal Engine, which looks like...time to censor myself. I must admit that while graphics are not that important, the relentless low rent district shittiness of UE is something I cant help but find off-putting. Granted, Boiware made many improvements but the glaring limitations are still plainly visible, I'm afraid it amounts to little more than turd polishing.

Just imagine a visual quality comparable to Uncharted married with ME's story and gameplay...

You're setting yourself up for disappointment.

It's entirely unrealistic to bring back the Geth especially as one dimensional as they were in ME1. In ME2 you had the choice whenever to destroy them or overwrite their AI. I'm sure they'll come back in some form, there is a whole Geth vs Quarians plot still to solve, but they won't be the main antagonists.

When the entire series is about the Reapers then I'd expect the last game of the trilogy to revolve around the Reapers.

I would have agreed with you here before seeing in my screen the games I mentioned above, now I think they look very awesome, its surprising what a new lighting technique makes a lot of difference.

ME2 looked nice enough IMO, also Gears games are mong the best looking games around, is often teh inability of developers that make teh engine look bad not the engine itself.

the geth, sovereign and saren where just a triple threat of awesome. ME2 didn't have anything. collectors looked bland, WHERE bland and felt like a random enemy encounter. granted, reapers are going to play a big part, and rightly so, but i think geth should be involved purely to link the games. my issues with Me2 stemmed from the fact it didn't have any real connections to the first game at all, aside from the odd passing statements that mentioned some event that took place, but the enemies where different, the characters where practically ALL replaced (with less interesting ones) and it didn't feel like much of a continuation of the events in ME1, more like a complete new, completely disconnected, unrelated story.

i just want ME3 to feel awesome again, and geth will help do that for me.

if they don't show up at all tho then already it's a disappointment. although an amazingly charismatic antagonist or 2 could save it. but saren and sovereign will be hard to top.

I don't think you'll be disappointed this time KORNdog, I saw an interview with one of the guys developing it (a while back I might add) that they were going to take the combat from two, polish it up a bit and slap it onto the firsts style and awesomeness of story telling.
