I feel the biggest down fall in games like this is how they crowbar in monsters and supernatural elements. And most of the time they are not very interesting at all.

The first game has excellent atmosphere but anytime a monster appears it just seemed goofy as hell, and brakes the atmosphere for me.

I am not sure many will agree with you there as I feel like the atmosphere worked BECAUSE of the monsters. The atmosphere was spooky and almost surreal and that was only emphasized more by having freaky abominations lurking around in the dark ready to kill you and anything else that is not one of them. I do agree however that the monsters were poorly implemented. it felt as if the game wanted to switch off from human enemies to monster enemies, and nothing in between. this lead encounters to be very predictable so you never really felt like a monster would jump out of a random tunnel at you when you were shooting human enemies. It was also a mistake for the monsters to be smart sentient beings with their own League and leadership. this was pretty corny. if they were mutated creatures from the fallout with no leadership and only the drive to kill humans then it would feel especially freaky wandering the tunnels.

I completed the first game but remember absolutely nothing about it aside from the game consistently crashing at some door underground right next to a big radioactive gassy pit. And a gun and flashlight you had to hand crank to use Lets just say i didnt love the game. The combat was clunky as hell and while the visuals where nice, the animations and small details where lacking. Monster design was awful too. It just felt like a linear, even more unpolished STALKER. The sequel looks a bit better in all areas. But after the first i'm finding it hard to get excited by it. Hopefully it's good tho. Maybe what the first game should have been?

Nice video, I also hope for less interaction with monsters. Too scared.
I guess this will be a much more polished experience, as THQ got a bit surprised by the first ones success, and promised to put more effort into pushing the sequel to new heights.
