PS3

The beta of Metal Gear Online has been delayed until the 25th, but our friend DjMizuhara still managed to at least get to the character creation system, and recorded this video.

The beta has really been such a nightmare. Just signing up was such a pain, when they could have just let it be a PSN download or something simple.

Now they've even delayed the US beta start (Konami even favors Europe to the US?). Has anyone been able to actually play the game yet? I'm worried it's going to be the laggiest game ever.

The game has been postponed in Japan until Midnight on the 25th of April...thats the furthest I got...I had been trying to get into the game for 4 or 5 hours!

Oh well...at least you'll be able to play it after the 25th and a few days later when GTA IV arrives the servers should be very quite! :D

Konami has a bad record with online this gen (just ask Pro Evolution Soccer fans lol).

I downloaded the Beta but just gave up waiting for the update (which was only like %15 after an hour).

I'm not that desperate to play it.
MGS has always been a personal experience for me anyway, I honestly think they should can this game, they are wasting their resources and not getting any results.

But hey if they can have it running properly at launch, of course I'll give it a go but really I'm not keeping my hopes up.
Unless they let some other company handle the online part of the game.

favoring Europe? you´re kidding, aren´t you? the beta has been suspended here!

the whole thing has been a nightmare: registering, creating ids, terrible indeed.

So it has been suspended everywhere then? I didn't hear about that.

Although the P2P update was kinda cool in a way, it uses the Transmission bittorrent client.

Wha the character creation is awesome, so much customization, even the voices :P
The guy took the face look I am planning to take...anyway, very cool and detailed customization for such a game.

I just hope Konamim hurrys up with their problem so I can go at it and play the game, they should have atleast letting us create our character and just play around with the practice mode, which doesn't even take from the online perspective.

Just take heart in knowing that by suffering and teaching Konami now, you'll get a smooth experience on June 12th when MGS4 comes out. Still, Konami really doesn't know squat about online, as evidenced by PES.

Sure Konami doesn't know anything about online gaming, but a company should start somewhere and I feel sorry for gamers giving Konami a harsh time for this beta.

I for one wish all the luck with MGO title and I hope they work their ways through to give us a good online only title...besides, this is a beta, it is better to screw over now than later, just means that they now know how much people want to go into this beta and all.

Konami good luck :)

No, it isn't, but it is the company's first world wide beta.

I would have thought Konami would have NDA'd this beta from screens/videos, although I hate it when it's the case.

Forgot, but still, maybe they want to keep working on their online gaming sections.

But non the less, best of luck for Konami with MGO and I hope they fix the issue so we can play the beta.

So, about the vid, does anyone know if there will be more to pick from later?

That is pretty much everything for the beta, but for the full game, I assume there might be a bit more and more to come through PS Store as DLC.

I for one am happy of what I saw from the video, now I know exactly how my character is gonna look like, now only if I could make the "start game" to work :P

Talk about ultimate fucking lameness. I download this bleeding beta @ 700+ MB and as soon as I start it up I have to download an update which must be almost bigger than the demo itself...WTF?! Bloody demo won't download offcourse, got stuck at ~ 20% and got an server connection timeout/error!

I didn't even get to the part where you can register for the nightmare Konami ID, doing it on the internet wouldn't work either as the site was under maintenance.

Fucking useless...

i bet this wouldnt of happened if the beta codes were exclusively for the people who reserved the game. but since u dont have to reserve the game to get the codes thats were all hell broke loose. ....well im sure that was part of it. so i guess i wont trust those people who ask me to reserve stuff because if i do i will get a cool goody.

I thought the whole point of reserving the game was to get a beta code. Did they really give them out for free as well? That would piss me off.

And while I can't speak for the rest of the world I had no problem getting an ID or downloading the v1.1 patch. In fact I was getting crazy upload speeds (200kb/s). My only problem was that they didn't let me limit it so I can DL faster. Took me 40 minutes.

I think people who were downloading it for hours straight just have no idea how bittorrent works (opening ports, cutting down on browsing, etc)

A good tracker + plenty of peers in the swarm = fast as hell. There are trackers shoot me to 500k-1mb/s regardless of other activity on my network.

Stop it, I doubt that's the case. Even if would be the case, so what? We Europeans pay premium for everything due the fact consoles & games are sold cheaper in Japan & US. For decades we europeans have had to wait months, even years sometime in the past, to get the same game just to the shelf. You start to whine instantly when mere beta might show up earlier in europe, please don't.
