Trailer PSP

Hideo Kojima wasn't at E3 only to reveal Metal Gear Solid: Rising on Xbox 360 : the day after the Microsoft press briefing, the father of the MGS series made an appearance at Sony conference to uncover Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PSP. This episode will take place after Portable Ops, and will relate the birth of Outer Heaven.

Remember the "5" logo on his website that had the countdown to the Sony conference day at E3? this is what it means.
This(Peace Walker) is MGS-5: Sequel to MGS3, Prequel to rest of the MGS games and next iteration in the series.
It is not like MGS: Rising, that is a spinoff on MGS4, but the true sequel in the series...

It looks really good. I could say "for a PSP game", but we shouldn't exactly be expecting next-gen graphics anyway.

As for this being the 'true sequel'... I'm not convinced. It may slot into the MGS timeline quite nicely and is a continuation of the series, but is this next proper MGS? No, not a PSP game.

I think it was said to take the sparkle off the MGS: Rising announcement - probaby to try and tame the anger from Sony loyalists. Spin-off or not, I still think that's going to be the next main MGS game - it just won't be with Solid Snake.

More like Portable Ops sequel, sequel to a spin-off.

Does anyone know if the PSP go screen suffers from ghosting? Main reason I stopped buying PSP games is due to horrible screen ghosting :(

Game looks great though, I hope Konami puts Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops on the PSP store, it was a GREAT game.

Looks like a MGS Ops, it's not a sequel of anything "MGS" for me, so wathever.

Considering Kojima and the actual core team is working on THIS title and not MGS: Rising I would consider this far "truer" than the console game.

some comments from the horses mouth here for those interested in the position of peace walker in the metal gear saga

http://playstationlifestyle.net/2009/06/04/kojima-...

including: He (kojima) describes Peace Walker as the "Metal Gear Solid 5 inside me."

Awesome!

BTW I wonder why so many people here try to make this MGS not true part of saga (even Kojima said it is). They are graphic whores? Don't own handheld?

'Truer' or not, I'm willing to bet that MGS: Rising will naturally gain more attention - which probably explains they're pushing MGS: Peace Walker a lot more.

And unknown_23: I've already said this looks really good visually, and I own a PSP. So, you can't put me in that boat.
