Konami has announced that an HD version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate will hit Xbox Live and PSN on October 31. It will also be available at retail within the Lords of Shadow Collection which contains on top of that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and its DLCs plus an early access to the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 demo.

Oh no....3D again. I was looking forward for some cool 2D HD graphics like in King of Fighters XIII.

Its not 3D exclusive.

Its 2D gameplay but with 3D models.

That looks great! It was a bit stiff on 3DS. Probably will still be stiff, but with HD graphics, Achievements, bigger screen and a proper controller. I'm in!

Yup...but I prefer 2D completely. Mabye some 3D in backgrounds, but this is not Castlevania for me. I know it can be a good game, but I will skip it.

The cover art from Super Castlevania IV has got to be the most awesome painting ever to grace the packaging of a video game!

Wow, that's a very narrow view of the world. So, you'll skip something good, just because it's not *EXACTLY* what you want from a bygone era? BTW, not saying I wouldn't love a 2D Castlevania also, just that I don't understand why people are so "zero-sum" or binary, where it's all or nothing.

Plus, if the new Guilty Gear is any indication (looks "2D" but is really "3D"), you'll be waiting a long time for your "2D only" game.

I think what you are trying to say is that it's not worth spending the time to make 2D games again? Am I wrong?

Anyways, there is something about a "well done" 2D game (well animated really) that makes you appreciate games made that way more for some reason. I guess you can say it's akin to listening the same album on Vinyl, CD, and its DL version ... I could be wrong.
