Trailer PC Xbox 360 PS3

Today, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is getting a new VIP map pack containing the Arica Harbor Conquest mode and the Laguna Presa Rush mode. The good news is that they will be no extra cost provided you used the VIP pass offered with the game. More details in the trailer inside.

Free DLC is always cool (but this was already made when the game shipped, so don't think too much of them).

The thought that you could have been playing 8 or more maps in every mode right from the start if it wasn't for this EA bullshit doesn't strike you at all? Don't be so fucking naive.

I'm not being fucking naive as you so eloquently put it. I know this could have been included with retail release. I don't have fucking time to be bitching and moaning about everything that comes about with video games especially when the content is of no charge. I'd rather enjoy the bleeting game then come here and curse the day EA was founded. What a fucking concept huh? A gamer that enjoys playing games and not bitching like a 5 year old girl with a skinned knee.

Hypocrisy for the win. Don't you have BC2? Ah of course. Way to start the revolution against EA and their evilness!

they're not new maps. They're existing game modes on existing maps.. the kind of thing Bungie does every weekend with Halo 3. Theres no download..theres not even a prompt to download.

Improvements to a game are fine, and adding modes to existing maps to allow a hint of freshness to the games also fine. Promoting it as free content (free map packs no less) when it's not technically dlc (as you've not downloaded anything), so naive kiddies can commend EA on their supporting their games with "free" stuff - when A)it's NOT free. B) they've simply unlocked what should of been unlocked from the start.. is what i disagree with.

I disagree with this business practice as well but not to the extent of being upset by it. I know exactly what they are trying to do with this.

they're trying to get it into the gaming subconcious that they support their games with free dlc..so that when they do charge for the next map pack that will indeed require a download as it will indeed be new content, gamers will feel less put out by the charge - thats the theory anyway.

When in reality what they've done is locked content day1 that they charged you for (the maps are on the disc there for part of the £40 price tag)..simply because it didnt benefit them giving us access to what we paid for day 1.

Lets not forget that they also value that content at an extra £10.

I think more people should be questioning it..maybe then when they tell us they'll support bbc3 with free dlc it may actually be free dlc

One things for certain.. YOU bitching about bitching will progress nothing. Which is all the more silly when you dont even agree with the practice yourself

I don't think it is silly at all. I don't agree with the practice but for now, they aren't really charging us so I'll take it. It's a shady way to do business and more and more it is becoming the rule rather than the exception. Btiching about bitching won't progress anything but neither will bitching.

One thing is for certain, we're all bitches.

The issues not with "supporting it".. it's with locking content on the disc that's been paid for then promoting it as free dlc support.

Lone voices on scattered forums never make a difference with bitching. But if official forums are filled, or better..if one of these games reviewers that get access to these people question them on just what is the value to the gamer with "dlc" supported like this, then maybe changes will be made.

The next call of duty is getting pc dedicated servers. The next game by the bayonetta peeps is having the ps3 as the lead platform. Games get patched all the time ect - all through bitching

In a moment of insight...

I strongly disagree with this being "free", it's not. One of my friends foolishly bought a used copy and doesn't have access to the maps at all, can't even buy VIP access. Now every time I'm playing with him and Laguna Alta turns up he gets booted, and now I can't play Arica Harbour with him. The funny fact is that all these maps are happily sitting on his disc, yet he has no access to the content he already bought.

Adorable.

Anyways, you did say foolishly. Well knowing that EA has implemented this for a few games now. It's not something that really affects me because I buy all my games new, at least for the PC.

If they are wanting to penalize those who rent the game and are not VIP... then make it VIP... and make true DLC... not by unlocking content/modes that are already on the disc and making them available a month after release. I think CODMW2's DLC is way overpriced... but at least it is true new DLC.

I don't mind if they are periodically changing the gaming conditions to keep it fresh, and to an extent, they are doing for the gamer. They could just release it and be done. That's a great thing about Bungie- they are constantly changing the online experience. Maybe down the road they use existing environments and change positions of the M-coms and a small download is required. As long as it's free. I won't pay for that kind of stuff, myself...

If it was, I haven't seen anything about it. And it just strikes me as bizarre that this is what people chose to bitch about on the same day that millions are probably buying maps that were copied and pasted from a game they already own. I'd rather get "fake" free content than pay $$$ for maps that I already own!
