Xbox 360 PS3

Rockstar finally releases official screenshots of Grand Theft Auto IV's multiplayer mode. The graphical downgrade is visible, but it still looks okay. We cross our fingers so it'll be as fun as it seems to be.

It looks just like the single player screens, minus Niko and the fact that there are names above them.

The multiplayer tags above the players, looks cheap for this quality of game. I've seen better looking implementations of similar tags above players on Xbox LIVE. Perhaps this is the PS3 version. Looks good otherwise.

From these screens it looks like they took out all the pedestrians and other traffic, just like GTA:LCS's multiplayer.

WEAK!

What the hell are you talking about? They have pretty much focused as much on the multiplayer mode as the singleplayer, multiplayer is the big thing that will set this apart from the earlier gta games.

Read this : http://www.gtagaming.com/gtaiv/inc/information/mul... Would you call that "tacked" on? :)

Hobo girder knife fight FTW.

Ehh... I hope there are pedestrians and traffic, and its not just a stripped down world like it looks in these pics. I mean, my expectations were high on the multiplayer based on an interview which stated they didn't want to veer too much off of what makes the single player great; A vast open *living* world.

There are pedestrians and traffic and no limitations on where the player can go in multiplayer, it's the exact same map as single player.

Not bothered too much about the graphical downgrade (TBH it's not much for me). What matters is how it plays, and come the end of the month, I wonder if the Live servers will fold once more, as it so did with CoD4 last week?

It isn't there are many previews that have talked about the host being able to set the amount of pedestrians and traffic.

I can just imagine the lag, both network and frame. Should work great in a LAN, but my money is on unplayable in XBL/PSN for the next 6-12 months from relese.

Why should it be "unplayable"? There have been alot of games that have both bigger enviroments and more players without any lag.
I doubt they would put such an enormous effort into the online multiplayer if it would turn out to be unplayable.

THE CITY IS EMPTY OF PEDESTRIANS, CARS, POLICE, ETC. BECAUSE OF THE OPTION TO TURN THEM OFF IN MULTIPLAYER MODES.

IT HAS ALSO BEEN SAID THAT THE QUALITY, GRAPHIC WISE, IN MULTIPLAYER IS SLIGHLY LOWERED IN ORDER TO KEEP THE GAME RUNNING SMOOTHLY.
