Honestly, i still think Bloodborne looks amazing. I didn't notice it as much when playing, but when i started watching speedruns and challenge runs i really started to pick up on all the little details. Not having to actually play makes it easier to appreciate the visuals, lol.

As for this, after seeing the stress test gameplay, i've no doubt in my mind that it will look great. I'm more concerned about how the game is designed in general. Scholar of the First Sin really has me scared about this.

I'd not worry 'bout this. Miyazaki's on board.

Miyazaki was the director or some such for 2 as well, so im not convinced itll be dark souls 1 levels of amazing tbh. My odeal scenario is that dark 3 has the attention and care put in to weapons and pvp that 2 had, but with the lore, enemy layouts and world of dark 1. But that is essentially the grand jackpot, and im not expecting that. I just hope its not scholar levels of bad.

One thing I've noticed the face in that one picture looks way better then they used too and clothing textures look better too.
Not that those will be as good on release.

Well, faces on npcs usually look better than those of player characters. All of the souls game have terrible looking player models, unfortunately :)

I think the clothes look about on par with bloodborne though.

I would love for From Software to deviate from their typical lovecraftian enviromental design and inject some real boastful colour into a world of theirs. A blend of their creature design, architecture and game mechanics in a Zelda WiiU world or a world like The Witcher a world where beauty and horror can meet.

I love Bloodborne with a passion but at times I just feel like I don't want to enter it's world and not because it's scary because that's the exciting part but because it can be (at times) depressing. It would be interesting to see what a game as suggested could evoke emotionally.

yeah, see depressing and fucked worlds is kind of what soulsborne is all about, so removing it would kill part of what makes the games unique.

Not to mention, out of all Fromsoft rpgs in the king's field and souls style, the only one with a lovecraftian theme is BB, that leaves something like 8 games that is just fantasy (well, with the typical depressing fucked world type deal that fromsoft loves), vs 1 game that's got a bit of an eldritch horror theme.

I agree, something is off in these screens for some reason. I think I am just spoiled from Rise of the Tomb Raider on the PC running in Ultra, it looks INSANE!

No fromsoft game was ever the most amazing looking game though. Most of their games look decent at best technically, and make up for it with amazing art direction and gameplay. Would rather have a dated looking souls than a pretty tomb raider any day :)

The most obvious improvement since Demon's Souls has been in the visual department. Their graphics are finally catching up with their gameplay. Bloodborne looked great but I think this game will surpass it. Especially on PC.

I think they have made substantial upgrades to the gameplay as well, since Demon's. Bloodborne and Dork 2 unfortunately rolled back some of them (like leveling at bonfires and the goddamn estus) but generally i think they've polished stuff up in more areas than the graphics. Not to mention, i don't think Dark and Dark 2 was a huge improvement in graphics over Demon's tbh. Dark Souls 2 had the flappy cloth physics, but the gimped lighting makes it look quite bad anyway. Obviously Bloodborne looks great.

Its been really hard to play BB, then go back to Scholar, then back to BB. Scholar feels so clanky and slow by comparison and BB much more refined and frantic. That said, Scholar is a lot more technical than BB, so, i'm hoping they land somewhere in the middle. Gameplay wise, they've gotten better hands over fist. I kind of played the series bass-ackwards. I started with BB, then played DS2, DS1 and Demon's Souls and man...the hit detection and all kinds of things felt super clunky in DS1 and Demon's by comparison. So, I'm guardedly optimistic.

Storywise, and some may not agree with me, I hope DS3 is more cohesive than DS2/DS1. Bloodborne wasn't exactly simple to follow, but, i feel like the whole Pantheon of Dark Souls really just made it pretty confusion and obtuse. I tried to jump into the lore...but its just so unapproachable. Kind of like trying to jump into the middle of Game of Thrones or something. There's a ton of characters, and they're all contextual to other characters and a pain to keep track of. Even after a 40min youtube video it's still not exactly cohesive.

To me Dark Souls stands out as the one that did most things right. Every game has stuff it does better than the other games, but i think in general Dark 1 has the most stuff down. Thats kinda what im hoping for with 3 though, that it combines the good stuff from previous games.

Dream combination would be like atmosphere from demons, parries, lore and world from dark 1, amount of spells, weapons and balancing and free directional roll from dark 2 and some of the inventiveness from the BB trick weapons baked in to the weapon arts. Would be very nice of we got all that. Oh and alsonthe general feel of bosses from dark1 (ie. Fewer armored dude with sword and shield and the same moveset used 40 times, and less spinning to face the player post windup bullshit that 2 has so much of).
