So at the end, the car took out a concrete pillar. Yeah...

for all its pitfalls it looks like bugbear have taken an arcade racer a given it a refreshing new lease of life.

yeah sure namco could have just carried on churning out new versions of ridge racer only that formula has pretty much worn out, no one wants a simple arcade racer anymore.

this will get a whole new audience as this looks more and more like a violent burnout game rather than a ridge racer game, people should stop living in the past and just move with the times.

Yeah, indeed. Arcade racer mean much? Suspension of disbelief, much? You are a gamer after all. >_>

Anyways, looks just... meh. It could be good, but honestly I haven't been into RR since the third one, and the only way I see myself getting this game is if the track editor is truly something awesome. Which, from the sounds of things, it won't be. :P

For me, this game was never about the racing, due to the full overly arcadeness and over the top catchup mode, it was always about unlocking the cars to see how insane the next one was going to be.

If this one is the same deal with cars i might give it a look after afew price drops :P

I'm giving it a look because it might actually be the proper Bugbear game I've been waiting for after Ultimate Carnage.

Never really liked Ridge Racer games much, but I loved the Flatout series and the latest Flatout 3 is a freaking joke.
I mean, they didn't even have the budget to put in proper deformation on the cars! wtf.

I know you guys like your Ridge, and I'm sorry for you and all, but, I might actually get mine this time.

I am interested about this because it's Bugbear game and it looks fun.

Those other Ridge Racer games feels like Outrun lite games to me. I got one for my PSP from some PSN sale and I have to say it was boring :/

Flatout 3 was made by "Team6 Game Studios", hence being a joke.

Looks just like CRAPOUT Bugbear destroying an arcade classic game like Ridge Racer is a crime, FU BUGBEAR.
FU and die.

Glad to see all that abuse as a child paid off... :os

OnTopic: Not sure what to think of this really. I liked the original Ridge Racer, but all the other games in the series seemed a bit pointless/dated. I'll keep an open mind, as I do like my racers!

Arcade game or not, I don't expect a concrete pillar to explode like it's plywood.

That's how you can tell the difference between a Japanese and Western developer. A Western developer would have ended that with the vehicle being absolutely destroyed with cars behind it getting hit with collateral damage.

I wouldn't mind if even the moon would crash in to the track and you would drive the couple last laps on surface. I mean it's a game. Who cares what happens.

Can't stand those rediculous "light trails" that follow the cars in some parts of the vid. Seems like they've just added those recently and have lowered my expectations for the game. I know it would be WAY too much to ask for an option to turn off and effect like that.

It's very much a ridge racer staple, has been for a while. Without that it's really unrecognisable as a RR title...not like thats a bad thing considering RR hasnt been any good for years. But still.

game looks cool but can't help to notice that Ridge Racer has fallen behind on this generation of consoles. Carnage is sweet but I have spend enough hours with Burnout and even Motorstorm Apocalypse. I always found interesting watching old characters like Lara an Sonic been brought to the new generation graphics style but this is a racing game so I don't really c the point. I would had prefer a Ridge Racer comeback with the WOW effect on the environments, with crazy landscapes and over the top design but the carnage part is already been done so many times. .. I might try the demo when its out.
