Day 1.

Fairy-type female fighters ftw.

Just wish they would make the supers as they were in =Dream Match '98= (best one the series followed by =Dream Match 2002= )

Sprite resolution still shit though. Guilty Gear had it right.

Yeah, say waht you will about the resolution, the quality of the sprites is still super high.Nice animation and shading as compared to BLazBlue which has rather choppy animation and 2-tone shading.

Yeah I agree about the sprites, after using the same ones for more than a decade they failed big time to sufficiently future proof them.

With the power of current hardware they could have easily supported higher resolutions and had the same number of animation frames, no compromise in this area was even remotely necessary.

@Megido the shading style in Blazblue is a design choice as it mimics the simple shading of anime, as for the animation the same thing applies although I agree that I would prefer it to be smoother. The upcoming Skullgirls has already proven my earlier point that no compromise between resolution or animation is justifiable from a technical standpoint.

Isn't it obvious that the sprite resolution wasn't chosen because of the hardware but to make the process of redrawing the sprites not even more complex than it already is? As Megido pointed out they took much more care in redrawing the sprites over the 3d model basis in comparison to what arcsys did with blazblue. You've got to consider that aside from the success of SFIV this genre is still a niche (this the right word? ). They can't burn too much money on something like that sadly.
