Nexuiz should be the first game powered by CryENGINE 3 to be released on consoles. Due in next winter, this futuristic FPS will offer multiplayer fights on arena maps. Here are 6 images of it and a press release.

Press Release:

Following on from a successful showing at PAX in Seattle, North America where Nexuiz was presented to the gaming community for the first time, Illfonic today released six new screen shots from their upcoming XBLA and PSN cult futuristic Arena First-Person Shooter out this Winter.

About Nexuiz

Powered by CryENGINE®3, Nexuiz is a fast paced Arena first-person shooter with competitive game play built specifically for consoles. Featuring the innovative mutator system, players progress through the ranks opening up new mutators that allow players to alter the rules for each match. On launch, Nexuiz will feature multiplayer modes including Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flagcomplete with full competitive leader boards designed for social networking. New games modes, models, and maps will be available as downloadable content post launch.

Nexuiz is set in a galactic war fueled for centuries by the Kavussari and Forsellians. Over time the two races entered into treaties with the Herald Accord, a union between different cultures in the galaxy. Even though peace settled across their planets, the seething hatred between the races kept the fire of war simmering under the fragile truce. Sensing their newest members could spread war throughout the galaxy; the Herald Accord gave the Kavussari and Forsellians a choice. Pit their warriors against each other in the arena rather than on the fields of war, or face total annihilation. The Nexuiz was formed, a series of battle arenas on the home planets of the Kavussari, Forsellian and the desolate planet of Atavirta.

Really cool that there are using the cryeninge 3.

But to be honest in dont SEE any benefits.
There is bad translation between textures(some are also realy low res).
Plus i dont understand why they use such i powerhouse of an engine for current gen consoles.
But iam still curious of what will cum out of this engine(console wise) .

Well, it just highlights how it's not the engine but the artists that makes the game look pretty. Have all the tech you want but if the design, models, textures, lighting and so forth is bad it doesn't matter, it'll still look bad.

The team had only worked with CryEngine 3 for three months before PAX and I'd say it look pretty good if you keep that in mind.

If that is the case and there only learning... why show off something at its early alpha stage which will easily put of people from the word go ?

No this is what it will look like, if there happy enough to let the public see the work, then as a product there happy with it

Yeah its looks generic and boring, looks like halo 2 hd... and that aint a good thing.

Just for all of you that don't know this games origin, I believe it was a quake 1 open source mod that has gone through a lot of time, and recently became a Cryengine 3 title.

Well, models and lighting sure. But lighting looks great in this and other Cryengine games, as do all of the post processing effects. THe game still looks decent, especially considering how early it is.

This must be a joke. Worst graphics, worst design, worst font and again....next stupid MP game. But hey....its CryEngine3. From what I see, they could have made it on Unreal 1 engine and it would look better than this.

And you point is? Nice lighting effects don't mean squat unless you have someone who is good at lighting seting it all up. It's not like you just check the "awesome lights" button and then it's done :P

And honestly, judging from these shots the models don't look too impressive either. Especially the weapons, but also look at the stiff stubby arms of the player characters in pic 3 and 4. Sorry, but for me who knows my way about maya and game graphics, having worked on a couple of projects, this just doesn't look that impressive, be it a Arcade title or what not. There is no excuse for bad looking mdoels and textures even if it has only been in development for 3 months, a gun like the ones we see here shouldn't take more than a couple of days to finish at most.

Well, judging form the screens here, that would seem to be the case. Then again, the shots on their homepage looks better but they are stamp-sized, so that might be why as well :P
