First 10 minutes PC Xbox 360 PS3

It's finally here, after so many months of waiting, people are going to see if Battlefield 3 will hold on its promises, both in terms of graphics and gameplay. So you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect from the single player campaign, here are a bunch of videos from the Xbox 360 version.
Update: PC short videos added so you can see the four different settings that are available and how the game looks.

The HD texture pack was installed when capturing them but we thought you might want to see what the game looks like when you don't use it. So take a look at our special image gallery and don't forget our last video showing different scenes of the beginning with and without the pack. We'll let you decide which is which so you can't accuse us of influencing you. As a last minute bonus, we've also added a first PC video in 1080p and 60 fps (ultra setting).

Wow there is quite a difference between the two. Not just textures either. In that bomb defusing scene you can see actual models are missing.

Indeed.

Who in their right mind wouldnt install the HD texture pack, IMO its crucial to have it or else you would be looking att garbage visuals all around.

Good looking game.

too bad you never see that kind of destruction in actual non-scripted gameplay.....especially when you kill a sniper far away in a building with the rocket launcher (e3 demo campaign) and in the next level you cant even blow up a wall with grenades or suddelny other buildings are immune to any kind of explosives. It's odd everytime you see something like this.

Nice graphics, btw

My guess is without HD pack on the consoles it's playing the game with low textures, with it's on medium.. Here's a nice article which shows the different settings on PC: http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/battlefield...

wonder how much harddrive this will take up once the countless patches and hd pack are installed... the hd pack, though an annoyance, isnt that much of a big deal as i imagine its still smaller than the mandatory install i'd get on the ps3, but theres noway i'd even consider getting this game if i didnt have a harddrive.

Either way, though it looks decent enough on console, it's a game i'll definatly be waiting atleast a month after release to purchase as the fact it needs a day 1 patch shows it obviously wasnt ready for release... and if bc2 was anything to go by you also know EA will probably have various things locked on the disc that they'll later market as "free" dlc support later down the line.

Plus.... MW3's campaign looks just as impressive visually i reckon (animations really stand out on bf3 though) - oh the controversy.

ah driftwood these ultrashots you've taken don't do the game justice, I think you have compressed the jpg far too much.

Installing games is standard now man. if MW3 looks this good then same apllies to MW2 and pretty much any COD for past some years lol

installing games has never been "standard" on the 360 - if it was then the recomended Rage install, and recommended BF3 install of the HD pack, wouldnt be news worthy would it?

MW2 still holds up visually today, and i've zero doubts that visual improvements will be noticed in MW3 as that engines been consistently flexable. Ofcourse it wont be a huge leap over MW2 but it doesnt need to be... it's already got hand holding set pieces nailed down, alittle extra sparkle and shine is all that can be expected..and all thats needed to look not a million miles away from the hand holding set pieces that apparently little BF3's campaign imo.

Moving away from COD, did anybody watch the gadget show last night? thats one set up i'd love to play this game on

Mediocre "me too" effort this turned out to be, I don't need two really similar modern FPS shooters when COD delivers both a good campaign and multiplayer (I won't lie some aspects of MP piss me off) as well as the co op spec ops and survival stuff which looks like more fun to me than competitive MP.

While it's become tiresomely fashionable to bash COD it's difficult to deny they nail every aspect of the game whereas the consensus on BF is dull campaign and mixed on multi (still pretty glitchy, hmmm... never saw that one coming). Apologists try to excuse it with the old chestnut of "BF is always about MP" but that's just not a valid rationalization for a full price title these days. As far as amazing graphics that promise came only remotely close to being fulfilled on high end PC (although it stilll has some major glitches there apparently), it looks somewhere between low end average and reasonably good on console. Constant screen tearing on outdoor environments looks really distracting but it looks nice on the indoor confined sections.
