After Never Alone, developer E-Line Media returns with another game intending to entertain and teach you a thing or two about nature. Beyond Blue is taking you deep into the ocean to marvel at the underwater world below us. You play the role of Mirai, a passionate scientist whose life dream is to explore the abyss and learn more about whales, among other things. As you'll see in our videos, the game offers a very relaxing experience but it won't appeal to everyone as a result. When playing you unlock mini documentaries just like in Never Alone, but also tons of information about the fish and mammals you'll encountered during your different dives.

I watched the trailer on the Epic Games Store and it seems almost exactly like Abzû. It has more realistic visuals compared to Abzû's artistically ones, as well as being able to scan animals for a database and a few other additions here and there.

Might be a great game to relax, though the fact that it has a database which looks to be very big, has me worried that it will get boring and searching and catalogging will turn into a grind like Maneater.

Which leads to some off-topic discussion, but that will wrap around Beyond Blue. After watching Easy Allies play Maneater, I decided to buy it and don't regret my decision, as it gave me a lot of fun for 10-15 hours already - specially fighting frantically against the shark hunters, which I spent over 2 hours fighting and screaming of joy when narrowly escaping them, as I was very underlevelled in the 2nd area.

But after I reached the 4th main story goal, the repetition really took the fun out of it. Also the reason for locking the "Elder" evolution behind the main story is truly stupid. You can be ready for it at level 20, yet I reached level 30 with just 5 areas explored - and 2 of them have quite a few things behind "Elder Gates".

I plan on finishing it, but took a time out so that when I get back, it's somewhat fresh as it will be a few weeks since I've played it. So while at first was really great, it quickly became boring and grinding for no particular reason. I wonder if Beyond Blue's length, which I believe is higher than Abzû's, will end up feeling like that in the long run, should one go for 100% completion.
