Released in 2010 on Xbox 360 and PS3, Enslaved finally arrives on PC. We therefore offer you some videos of the beginning of the game in 1080p and 60 frames per second. As a reminder, back in the days, Driftwood had written a full review of the game. If you have never had a chance to play it, you should definitely give Ninja Theory's original creation a go as it was a pretty good title back then.
Note that the game does not offer any graphic setting except the resolution, so no antialiasing is available. But, with the help of Guru3D's forums, it is possible to force an efficient antialiasing (SGSSAA) if you own an NVIDIA graphic card.
How to :
- download and launch NVidiaInspector
- download these files: enslaved_2x.nip and enslaved_4x.nip that contain the necessary modifications
- in NVidiaInspector click on the icon on the right, representing a wrench and a screwdriver
- in the upper bar click on the "Import user defined profiles" button, then "Import profile(s)"
- select either the enslaved_2x.nip or enslaved_4x.nip file, now click "Apply changes" in the upper-right corner.
Launch the game and see how it runs, if the 4x is too demanding for your rig, try the 2x one.
These profiles includes the v-sync (that the game does not offer), and a functionning SLI profile.
FYI, the first three videos were captured with SGSSAA 2x (4x could not be captured at 60fps in the first level), and the three others with the 4x one.

Eternal sonata and Star ocean would be a blast at 1080p 60 fps.
The games are great, epic even in DS's case, but they are such horrible ports that you end up feeling like the developers couldn't be bothered to muster 1 week of focused work to make them from BS ports to bad ports.
I just played Naruto today for some 3 hours, the game is great, but the only graphical options you have are: Resolution, Aspect Ratio, Supersampling, V-Sync and whether you want to play in windowed mode, also, not only is the game locked at 30 fps, but the Supersampling option only has 2 options: None or 2X. Seriously, WTF!!!
To add more injury, some of the videos like the opening are in an almost DVD like resolution and the developers couldn't bother to make a renderer to scale it up, so it gets blocky (image full of squares), plus even some of the fonts suffer the same fate.
I really hate how a lot of people keep talking about the fact that developers don't want their games on PC because of low sales compared to consoles - almost always blaming it on piracy - when they release extremely horrible ports like these and expect we spend our hard earned money to buy, to a certain degree, an unfinished port/game.
If they can't be bothered to make the basic for the PC version, why even release these games like this?! I know we all want to play games, and these are indeed great games, but there's no excuse to justify not spending a "single" week of focused work to actually make something decent, if a guy can make one of the best fixes of all time - DSFix - for a PC game in less than 30 minutes, how can companies not do at least 1/10 of what he did in months?!
PS. Sorry if I'm pissed, but I'm seriously asking myself if it is better to have these kind of ports than to have no port of the game if it will be like this. We all spend money on products and we deserve to have that money's worth, of course no one thinks these kind of games will be at Crysis 3 level, but very simple/basic options are missing and on a PC version we have the frame rate locked at 30 fps, if it is like this, why not just buy the console versions, this is beyond wasteful and it feels like a horrible joke you actually paid for.
you have 3 types of releases for old games. Remakes, Remasters, And Re-Releases. Remakes and Remasters a majority of time are done by the help of external parties. had this game been a tri platform release it would have gotten full PC support like many other simultaneous games, like Street Figher X Tekken.
loved this game...especially the interaction between the two. great story & beautiful levels. gameplay was slightly bland though
The game is really great and I'm having fun with it, but things like the low texture fonts and the almost non existent graphical options take me out of the game quite often.
My point was, and still is, that CyberConnect2 and Namco Bandai Games could have added more options with just 1 week of focused work.
I just watched episode 13 of Indie Game Manuel - a show about indie games and their developers - and it's amazing what some small teams of 1-6 people or even 1 person can do in 1-3 years on mostly their 1st, 2nd or 3rd game, now compare that with "professional" and "experienced" developers with the backing of one of Japan's biggest games publisher releasing a BS port, there's definitely something wrong here, isn't it?!
I recently played Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Gone Home, Mark of The Ninja and Guacamelee! - almost indie games, but epic/excellent games - and they are great console ports, and while some have only the basic of options, they still have more options than Naruto, a AAA game, plus all are almost 1/4 of Naruto's price, with the exception of Gone Home which is 1/3.
I'm not saying they should rewrite the game or add more content, I'm saying that they released a PC version that really isn't much of a PC version, so why even do it?! I know not everybody has consoles, but that doesn't really justify this type of quality in the PC version.
If you're going to do something with ill will, don't do it, if it is something you must do, then do it seriously, I do this in my personal life, let alone when I'm working, what reason do they have not to do it?
We, as professionals, are responsible for what we do, our work speaks for ourselves, if I'm lazy or dedicated, it will show in my work and that defines how people perceive me, on my first international company job I was always asked to give all of my commitment to the company, my job and any work I did, how can I not expect the same from other companies and professionals?
In these cases, I always put myself in the shoes of whoever is responsible and ask myself if there was something more I (him/her/they) could have done or, at the very least, if I (him/her/they) did enough. In the cases of Naruto, Enslaved and Dark Souls, everyone who played the PC version already knows the answer.
And even From Software - Dark Souls developer - has admitted, on two different interviews, that they did a horrible job on the PC version of DS1, hence why with DS2 they decided to make the PC the main developing platform and from that scale down to the PS3/X360, as both a way to repent for their mistakes as well to make the best PC version they can.
I wasn't expecting miracles, but I also wasn't expecting laziness and, to a certain degree, disrespect from the developers and publishers, after all, we are buying products made by established professionals with lots of experience to boot, why wouldn't they do the most basic of things!?!
PS. Sorry for the 2 long posts, I'm just frustrated right now, not saying that as an excuse, just the truth.
