First 10 minutes PC PS4 Xbox One

Surviving Mars, which will be available next week on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, is a management game in which you have to build structures and gather ressources to sustain human life on Mars. The game offers a certain challenge with its hostile environment, settlers' needs, their personality traits and mental health, ressource management, but also mysteries that may appear during the game. Here are some gameplay videos of the PC version in 1440p60, and maybe more next week.

It looks interesting, but my only worry is its developer is that of Tropico and not Colossal Order who I've come to love their sims. I'm torn.

Yeah for a moment I though it was Colossal Order doing this and got really exited and them realized is the Tropico team. Though the game still looks nice and is not like the Tropico team are bad devs to. Definitely gonna give it try.

Is there a problem with the Tropico team ? (I never played their game before)

I'm more than 10 hours in the game and I'm really enjoying it.

No problem with Trópico team at all, and to be honest I have never play a Trópico game to, It is just that Colossal Order did one of the best sims game I have play (Cities Skyline), and got really exited thinking it was them doing this.

Still exited for the game anyways and glad that you are 10 hours in and enjoy it. Game seems ton of fun.

Oh ok :)

By the way, this game is not a sim like Cities, I think it's a bit more like Anno or Aven Colony, but I did not play those game that much.
I mean, you don't create a city by zoning, placing service buildings, managing trafic and let citizens live their lives, here you have to manage ressources first and try to be self-sufficient, build things that will help your settlers to live and stay on Mars (once they're all dead it's game over).

Still you have to fulfill their needs, make them happy, educate them, but you can also manage where they work and sleep.
It's a very different game, I really like both, Paradox really has good studios these years :)

I may try Tropico someday, but from what I saw on Twitch, the theme/ambiance does not please me.

Yeah I have seen several gameplay videos and I know is not the same type of sims as Cities, and is understandable as is about colonizing Mars. You wont colonice mars building metropolis on it :P

I still call it a sims game though as it is a colonizing mars simulation. I love this type of games.

Yeah this looks more 4X to me than city builder. And that's okay.

Miguel, the problem with Tropico is you hit a wall. It's city building which is great, sim seems to be subjective around here, but it's a sim meets age of empires which is just empire building. So, in Tropico, you have that mixed with a hint of economics and behind the scenes adjustments to ruin your money or your people, etc. Not much more. Either way, you hit a wall where it can no longer function in any other possible combination that you've done (which isn't that many), or just loop.

While this looks good, I certainly don't want that Tropico model.
